My thought upon finishing the episode: interesting.
I don't really have much to say about this episode. It was all right, had some good stuff in there for the Wincest shippers. I guess they've earned it after the flood of Destiel-feels.
Um... I don't like that they filled a trope (imho) with Kate. I've found Supernatural tends to drift towards blondes as the 'innocent' 'victim' 'untouchable' girls (this is for the humans not the angels, but even then blonde chick angels are more snarky than nasty, except maybe Hester).
I haven't actually found a female character on SPN that I really relate to who fits me and my personality type. I suppose this is why I don't like it too much when they pull the girls in. There is a notable exception with Jody though and Young Mary, them I adore. I mean, I do appreciate that Carver is trying to pull in strong female characters for the show. But I don't know... I'm on the fence about both Kate and Amelia so far.
So I guess I didn't really like this episode. I didn't hate it, but you won't find me sqeeing about it. I think that may be an unpopular opinion from what I've seen so far of reaction posts but I'm entitled.
I do enjoy when other people enjoy the episodes though, because that means potentially more success for the series. Every week for the last seasons six and seven it was basically nothing but episode bashing, so people appreciating an episode I didn't is still a good thing, because appreciation is appreciation.
I'm really not giving much of a review here. Okay, positive points:
•Interesting and unique concept. It delivered something fresh and new.
•Character growth in both Dean and Sam with letting Kate go.
•Strong female lead, even if I couldn't personally relate to her, she did seem very relatable to some.
•Also, Dean wasn't drinking - he had Coke (or Pepsi) with his burgers.
My rating:
Why? Because I don't have the heart to give it one but overall it just wasn't my cup of tea. Perhaps my mind will be changed on the rewatch. If so, I'll update.
