OOC: Relationship Reference Post
Being a hermit and man of solitude, it is not surprising that this list will be short and compact. Valjean is a not a sociable man, and even with Alice's help, he has not made a great deal of friends.
Alice Liddell
There have been two great loves for Valjean during his long life. Both have been his young adopted daughters. He would relive the grueling sentence he'd been charged with if it brought him more time with either Cosette or Alice.
Though she was not in danger or as malnourished as Cosette, from the moment he laid eyes on her, Valjean knew that Alice needed him as much as he needed her. He had been lost since entering Somarium, wandering alone since his intense meeting with Javert, worrying only of the one he had left behind. But Alice provided him with a distraction and someone to care for. It didn't take long for him to be wrapped around her tiny fingers.
Alice is very different than Cosette which has made raising her quite the experience. She's completely curious, always asking questions, very sensitive, and terribly social. She makes friends easily with everyone, something the old man isn't used to. He's familiar with solitude, sitting alone with Cosette in the shack outside of the real house he had purchased. But Alice has forced him into the scene with her- introducing him as 'her monsieur' to all he meets. He's flattered, feeling loved, and entirely overwhelmed. Though it rarely shows.
He's terrified of losing her and even more scared of her learning of his past.
He spoils her like crazy and will never stop it. She will have the best in the world, just as she deserves.
Ichijou Takuma
Valjean loves his son/grandson/new family member much more than he ever envisioned he would. The boy is kind to both him and Alice, and the old man would be sad to see if he left either Somarium or the cottage they share. He can act rather strangely though, but Valjean appreciates both his upbeat attitude and strength.
