Green Day
So, as many have known I wen to Green Day last night.
Let's start off with getting there in the first place.... It takes 2 hours to get to Cedar Rapids from Des Moines. So we cash my checks for my money. Then I realize I forgot my Nintendo DS. I wouldn't have anything to do in the car on the way there without that so we have to go back home, but luckily we weren't too far away. (we weren't even on the highway yet)
Now we are on the road. I just kinda layed around for a bit. Then play some games while listening to some Green Day. Then a little Stuck With Arthur. It took forever because some people can't control there bodily functions. I can though.
We get into Cedar Rapids, just like Des Moines. We weren't able to find the arena until we saw this huge line of people wrapped around two buildings and going over a bridge! We park like 4 blocks away and start walking. We followed the line all the way to the end. We stand there for 10 minutes and it starts raining. Greeeeeaaaaattt!
We got SOAKED! Not just wet, but soaked. I did not think we were gonna make it in there in time to see them. We were right next to the arena and we could hear a band, I wasn't worried it was Green Day. Because they had My Chemical Romance opening so it could be them or just a sound check. Later on after wrapping around 1 and a half of the buildings we are under shelter. Then I see three guys standing around talking. They start walking towards us and pass by us to go through these doors. Well it was the bass player for My Chemical Romance and possibly a guitarist.
We're now nearing the entrance. I thought I was gonna get my camera taken from me because there was a sign that had a list of items that couldn't be taken in. One was cameras. So my mom takes it in case they take it. She was just gonna take it to the car instead if they did. Now we are walking past the security gaurds and they had metal detectors. Luckily they did not search any of us.
Finally we're there sitting down above the floor in the front of the balcony. The music playing before the show started was YMCA. They had a guy in a rabbit suit (possibly Billie Joe or Tre' Cool) dancing around to the song. Then the theme to 2001: A Space Oddyessy playing. Then here comes Green Day.
"CEDAR RAPIDS IOWA!!!" First things you here from Billie Joe. Then American Idiot kicks in. The Drummer and Bassist (Tre' and Mike) just keep playing as Billie Joe Screams at the audience and introduces the band. They finish the first song and just keep going along. He introduces Holiday like this: "This song is about all those political fucks! Remeber this, they don't control you or this counrty, because you are the real leaders of the world! Now I want you to scream and sing along as loud as possible so every redneck asshole can hear us tonight!"
Then he grabs a super soaker, calls down a little kid to spray the audience. But that's not the end of the voulenteering rock-stardom. He says "We're starting a new band right here. First off, who can play the drums?" calls up a drummer then a bassist and then the guitarist. But the cool part was the guitarist was female and 13! He let her keep the guitar!
Nearing the end now, or so you think.... They play 'King for a Day' and he's wearing a crown. They finish and start playing Shout....you know little bit softer now and all that. Well when they get to that him and Mike are laying down and someone lays a robe around Billie Joe and puts his crown back on. He gets up, they finish, leave. we think it's over, but you gotta wait for the encore. Tey're back out and play like 7 more songs. One is Queen-We are the Champions. Spray connfetti. Then finish with Time of Your life.
So that was that. But there were things like Him making us say Heeeeeeeyyyyy-Ooooohhhhh! and all that. And he says "Say Uhhh, Say Ahhhh, Say Ohhhh." He sticks his hand in his pants and yells "SOMEBODY FUCK ME!!!"
but I'm done now.
