[Character Name] Tetheus
[Canon] Dragon Knights
[Point Taken from Canon] Midway through Volume 24, when he and Shydeman are teleported somewhere else.
[Age] Hundreds maybe...but he looks like an adult so no more than mid-30s? (in canon they stop aging after a certain point.)
[Gender] Male
[Sexual Orientation] Het.
[Eye Color] Darkish blue/black, but they can kind of glow to a crimson red when he senses demons nearby.
[Hair Color] Black.
[Height] Freakishly tall, so I'm fudging it at like 6'9".
[Other] The pointed ears should be a tip that he's not human, but they're not as long as an elf/faerie (though people are free to mistake him for one.)
[Clothing] Black trenchcoat, black pants, black boots, black shirt that looks more Eastern/oriental style, probably a white undershirt.
Yeah. He lives up to his title as the Black Dragon Officer.
[Background]
First, I'm going to give a very, very brief summary of what the series about. Otherwise, a lot of this won't make sense. The series is set in a world where dragons, humans, faeries, and demons exist. By dragons, not only do I mean the mythical creature, but people who have dragon blood in them. The Dragon Tribe is led by the Dragon Lord Lykouleon. His "court" is comprised of Dragon Officers, who are basically high ranking officials. There are also Dragon Knights, and they are the ones who can use the power of real dragons to fight. Anyway, the demons are led by the Demon Lord Nadil, and there's a war going on. There's a lot more to the plot since there are a lot of characters who are involved in different ways, but that will be fleshed out a little later.
----------
Tetheus was originally a demon who lived on the eastern continent of Arinas. He had two siblings, Shydeman and Shyrendora. However, during the first war between the Dragon Lord and Demon Lord many years ago, they were separated from one another. In a twist of fate, the siblings were saved by the very forces that had pulled them apart. Tetheus was spared by the Dragon Lord Lykouleon, and he later accepted the Black Dragon Crystal to become the Black Dragon Officer, Head of Security and Defense. Despite now being part of the Dragon Tribe, he was still part demon. Shydeman and Shyrendora, on the other hand, were taken in by the Demon Lord Nadil. Not knowing of their fate, Tetheus believed them to be dead-that is, until an unexpected reunion later on proved otherwise.
Since joining the Dragon Tribe, he devoted his life to serve the Dragon Tribe by protecting the Dragon Castle and those within it. However, because the Red Dragon Officer had yet to be found, Tetheus had to also take up organizing the outer offenses. Normally the Red Dragon Officer would handle the offensive line while the Black Dragon Officer focused on defense. Though defending the Castle and everyone within the kingdom was his main priority, Tetheus essentially controlled the whole military force and organized any offensive attacks when necessary. Since he was mainly on defense duty, Tetheus normally stayed behind, but he did accompany Lykouleon when a powerful and terrible demon was rampaging throughout the world. This demon would become Rath Illuser, the Fire Dragon Knight (as well as a slew of other things) but that's not so important here. Only thing to note about Tetheus' connection with Rath is the fact that he knows Rath used to be a demon.
During more peaceful times, Tetheus went out with a group of Dragon Fighters to patrol various cities and towns to check on things and help exterminate any demons that were prowling around. During one of these excursions, there had been reports of a strange voice singing near some caves. Upon investigation, his group literally fell upon Kitchel, a girl who was on assignment by Lykouleon to bring back the three treasures that were hidden in the caves. There he learned that while she had managed to retrieve the treasures, she was actually in a different dimension and would not be able to return to Dusis until she reached the "true exit." Upon returning to Draqueen, he would not only inform Lykouleon and the others, but he also informed Thatz since the guy was asking him about it.
By this time, Nadil's army was making their move to revive their Demon Lord. It was during the actual invasion that Tetheus discovered that his siblings were in fact alive and serving under Nadil as his head generals. Even though they were family, he had no problem fighting against either of them. Shydeman and Shyrendora still held some respect for him as the elder brother (they actually listened to him when Tetheus commanded them to release Thatz, much to Thatz’s surprise).
Unfortunately, Nadil was a pretty sly bastard and was the reason why their defenses had been compromised. To cut the story short, Nadil was revived and eventually left, taking Cesia and his demon army along with him back to Kainaldia. Originally, the Dragon Knights were going to try to save Cesia using Varawoo, a demon that Rune had the ability to control (well, somewhat), to create a portal. Fortunately for them, Tetheus found them before they could test the plan. He told them that if they had used Varawoo, they would have appeared right above Nadil's castle. Instead, he ordered them to find a "demon who collected corpses" to use to travel to the demon world.
For most of the time, Tetheus stayed at the Castle to help protect its defenses while demons attacked it. He also fought the very demon he had sent the Dragon Knights to find, Sabel, and won. Or rather, it was more like he wasn't backing down, much to Sabel's irritation, and Sabel wound up "running away." Tetheus would confront Sabel again down in the underground Dragon Sanctuary. There he and others discovered that not only was Sabel really a faerie under the curse of a demon, but also the original Water Dragon Knight. It was also at this time where he reunited with Kitchel. This point is only notable because he was a little surprised to see her, especially since the last time he saw her was down in the caves and she was in the other dimension. He also had to suffer through her usual shenanigans before directing them out.
Then more demons decided to crash the party. Shydeman and Fedelta appeared and Shydeman basically hinted to Tetheus what they planned on doing. Tetheus immediately knew that they were going to try to summon Yusurugi, a bigass powerful demon that could destroy the whole world. Tetheus knew about the two swords and that there was a "key" needed to summon the demon, but he did not know that Sabel was the key. Regardless, he informed Thatz, who was wielding the Sword of Snow, that he needed to destroy the Sword of Fire that Fedelta wielded.
After that, Shydeman teleported both himself and Tetheus to Kainaldia to fight each other one on one, as both of them fighting right then and there would cause a huge explosion of power since they were both really strong.
[Personality]
One of the first things one will notice about Tetheus is that he is a very serious, silent, stoic man. He can carry a casual conversation just fine, though his responses may be short and direct to the point. He normally doesn't strike a conversation unless he has to tell someone about something or giving orders. However, when he is explaining something he can go into length and tell only what the person needs to know. He can also throw out the witty remark, though they're more of a taunt or belittling his opponent. These don't happen too often. Otherwise, he only talks when necessary and keeps his thoughts to himself. His silence can sometimes be seen as "scary," or so say his Dragon Fighters.
As mentioned before, Tetheus is very serious, particularly when it comes to his duties. He greatly disapproves of slackers and will be quick to reprimand anyone who is caught not doing their job. He is very loyal to the Dragon Tribe and to those who are close to him, so he does not take anything that could be a potential danger to them lightly. He will do whatever is necessary and perform his duties with complete diligence. Because of his position, he is also very capable of taking charge and getting those to follow his orders. He will analyze the situation and determine the best direction very quickly. He also does not take any unnecessary risks. That isn't to say he won't take any risks. He knows there are times that a risky maneuver may be the only and best choice. Even so, he will try to prepare to ensure success.
Despite his rather taciturn exterior, Tetheus does have a softer side. Even though he may be harsh to his troops, there is a reason why his Dragon Fighters are loyal to him and are practically his fanboys. Well, another reason outside of them fanboying over his strength, anyway. Tetheus is also fair and treats everyone with respect and due deference. Even though he'll outright call someone an idiot, it is only when they truly deserve it. This is because he knows that they can do better, and he will still place his trust in them to do their jobs. And he can crack a smile. It might not appear that often, but he knows how to.
He's also rather modest about his own abilities. Even if someone were to tell him to his face that the was the strongest, he will either not acknowledge it by staying silent or deflect by saying it's only for his job and that there are others who are just as strong or stronger. That isn't to say he doesn't recognize that he has certain strengths, but he doesn't think much about them.
In terms of his emotions, one could say that he's mostly calm and level headed. Of course he can also get angry, surprised, panicked, sad, happy, etc. But most of the time, and even in dire situations, he can maintain that levelheadedness and be able to think things through. He will keep in mind on what's most important, so even if a random twist happens, he will be quick to place what should be done first. He may be surprised or angry at first, but these emotions don't stay long, or at least won't hinder his thinking. Otherwise he's pretty much like a silent statue.
As a final note, Tetheus seems to be rather knowledgeable about a lot of things. He seems to know information about everything that happens within the series-the three treasures, Yusurugi, the demon world (well, that's a given since he used to live there), powerful demons-so it's really hard to say what exactly he knows. But it does prove that he has the capacity to remember a lot of things, especially if they are important.
[Specialties/Abilities]
Super strong. No joke, he can fight with and without a weapon very well, though he will use his sword if he uses a weapon. He's a very skilled swordsman and has been noted from other characters in that he may be the strongest even in comparison to the Dragon Knights, who are considered to be the elite squad. He doesn't necessarily "carry" a sword in a sheathe like normal people. Instead, he "summons" it into his hand. This is a skill that all high ranking Dragon Tribe members and demons can perform. It does take some power to summon it, but it's not really much of a problem for him.
Tetheus is also a very adept hand-to-hand fighter. His punches will create holes in concrete walls, and he can take down strong demons with just his bare hands. He can also pry open a giant demon goldfish's mouth open-from the inside-with just one hand. Needless to say, he has quite the strength, but he's not invulnerable.
He also has a few magic attacks, but he doesn't really use them often. Mostly because he doesn't really need to. But should the situation call for it, he can disperse/deflect magic attacks. It is also said that he has the ability to purify demon auras, but personally I am not sure how exactly that works nor what it takes for him to do it. The only time it is shown in canon is when he's fighting Shydeman and Tetheus was kind of...speared? by his brother's tendrils (it is so much easier to show it than describe it, seriously). Anyway, even in that condition, he was able to summon his sword, pierce Shydeman's body, and then Shydeman kind of...disintegrated and died. Like I said, not sure exactly what happened (it could be argued the manga-ka just rushed and did that scene really fast), so that little ability will probably never happen in game.
Tetheus can also sense when there is someone with strong abilities or auras-even when they're miles away if they are really strong and are exerting a lot of power. His eyes will also glow a dark red whenever there are demons around. Also, as he is part demon, most demon attacks won't bother him as much. It may still cause him pain, so it's not like he's completely unaffected, but compared to the excruciating pain that non-demons would normally feel, it's really nothing for him. On the flip side, he can also mask his presence very well. So well that the other Dragon Officers sometimes never notice him. It's like he's a ninja.
[Affection]
...He's not exactly big on the whole affection thing and will more than likely just stare at the other person and make them feel uncomfortable. But go for it!
[Fighting]
He can handle his own fairly well, so fights are perfectly cool. Just give me a heads up (unless I'm already reacting to a post or comment). As for death...let's say no.
[Other Permissions]
Telepaths, good luck. His mind is very guarded, so reading his mind will be almost nigh impossible. But those who could detect auras should be able to pick up that he's quite powerful and not human. To be more specific, he's both part dragon and part demon. On the other hand, he hides his presence very well, so if it's specifically stated that he should be very hard to detect, only those with very keen senses would be able to detect him.
[Other Facts]
Other than really not being much of a talker, there's really not much.
Mentioned the ears up above, and the fact that he's part dragon and part demon. Oh, he's tall. Really tall. I think probably the tallest in the whole series.
