It took him a while, but the boy finally has it.
He enters the fire station that he and Big Boss call home; Outer Heaven. He's clutching a paper bag to his chest as he carefully sneaks inside, taking a great deal of caution as he proceeds towards the stairs.
He freezes.
The stairs are creaky. He will be heard. A new plan is in order.
He makes his way quickly over to the fire pole. Holding the open end of the bag between his teeth, he grasps the pole and begins to hoist himself up. His muscles strain as he attempts to move quickly -- but at the same time, managing to keep his pace slow enough as not to allow the bag to hit against the metal. He's used to scurrying up without any major issue -- taking his time is a strain on his arms.
He makes it to the upper-level, the opening leading into the kitchen area. He takes the bag out of his mouth and crouches down by the table, listening for any sounds. He cannot see or hear anyone in the immediate area. He proceeds down the short hallway with caution.
He finally makes it into the room he shares with his commander. Big Boss is nowhere to be found -- good. Frank allows himself to relax as he steps over to the mattress on the floor that serves as their bed. He crouches down and empties the contents of the bag -- a bottle of bourbon and a card. On the card, "Happy Fathers Day" is crudely written in dark, somewhat shaky letters. He has
Snake to thank in regards to the bourbon, and
Rose for the card.
He rises back up to his feet and exits the room -- Big Boss will find this soon enough.
