[The video feed turns on, Frank appears to be sitting at a small table in a kitchen. Before him sits an unusual device -- it looks similar to a Dreamberry in a way but some people may recognize it as a familiar music player. The only true difference is, he's in the midst of taking the portable player apart.]Technology is an unusual thing. As time ( Read more... )

Nothing like this. We don't even have... what did they call it... 'electricity'?

Parts of the world I came from did not have electricity either. It's... Convenient though, isn't it?

Yeah, it is. It took me a long while to get used to it, though.

[And probably a few broken smoke detectors.]

[He nods, understanding.]

It is a constantly evolving field, it's vital to remain conscious of such ideas... Even if they are unfamiliar.

Similar to this... except for the Dreamberries.

Did you have anything similar to the Dreamberry device?

Phones have gotten pretty advanced, but if you want to make a video call you generally have to have a separate camera set up.

Multiple cameras for video-based communication? It sounds very advanced.

Where I am from... Most people did not have things such as this. I had a... communication device somewhat similar, but it only transmitted voice, not sight.

It is fascinating though.

[He gives an understanding nod.] My world had short-range voice transmission via radio signals. There were devices to enable a broader range but I had never seen them myself.

My world's technology is pretty much about the same as Somarium's. If you, you know, ignore the dreamberries, floating castle, and distinct lack of internet.

... Nice ipod.

iPod... [He repeats the word over. That's what Snake referred to this device as in the past.] A miniature record player... Isn't that right?

Yeah, pretty much. Some kinds can play more than just music, but you've got the right idea.

I take it they didn't have those in your world?

Yes, but at the same time, no.

This "iPod" belongs to Snake. I will not learn of them for many years. They did not exist in 1971.

[Oh hey it's that one guy from before]

We did have cellphones but most of the time we couldn't use them. [Different worlds different rules]

Cellphones?

Does that have anything to do with genetics?

13thkey March 29 2010, 17:23:23 UTC
Genetics?

Cellphones were kind of like these Dreamberry's only without the video and dream viewing feature. They were used to make communicating easier.

I see... Strange that the word "cell" would be present, when it has no relation to genetic study.

[The idea of cells being related to technology as well isn't something he's entirely conscious of.]
