I'm pretty sure there were weapons of mass destruction in Iraq that were moved to Syria, but let's assume for all intents and purposes that there were none in Iraq. Either way, Saddam refused to allow the US to investigate, therefore we had no way of knowing whether there were weapons of mass destruction or not. Maybe you and other liberals would rather we just assume there are none and we just sit still and wait for them to possibly bomb us. But I'd rather have us liberate Iraq to ensure our own safety. Even if that means that some troops may have to sacrifice their lives for this country. It's true that America might gain advantages dealing with oil, but that was clearly not the primary reason for invading Iraq.
Were there weapons of mass destruction in Iraq? Not when we got there. But knowing what we know now, if given a chance to take the 2002 vote over again, I'd vote to invade Iraq in a heartbeat in order to protect our country.

whether or not we should be in iraq, we are, and no bitching and complaining will change that.
realistically, iraq probably did have WMD, and they are probably in syria right now. keep in mind that hussein wouldn't let UN inspectors in for three days. that's plenty of time to shuffle some nukes across the border. whether or not there was anything to shuffle across, we don't know.
sending people into iraq isn't a party-specific action. many democrats also support the war. no one was "brainwashed," people were misled. there is a huge difference.
don't act like bush is making this country into a 1984 scenario because he's not. i personally voted for kerry, but bush is our president so people should accept that and deal with it.
whether or not you agree that we should be in iraq, the fact is, we ARE in iraq and americans are dying for us. our people are putting their lives on the lines so that, as they believe, our country can stay free of the fear or terrorism and WMDs. so we should support our troops and not use michael moore's "Fahrenheit 9-11" as our guide for political thinking.
chris, don't think this was specifically directed to you, because it wasn't.
