OOC :: Another Info Post, this time on Businesses!

So, here's just a quick overview of the three businesses that have the misfortune of being in my hands. With this icon just because I like it and it amuses me.

Turtle & Canary is a shop in the village that is sort of a general store for everything. The size of the store has never really been, as far as I know through the passage of its ownership into different hands, confirmed, but it's pretty big. Turtle & Canary sells almost anything. Except duct tape. I'm not sure why, but it's a bit of a long running joke that started before Turtle was in the game, back when it was someone else's problem responsibility and it was called All and Sundries. It's highest grossing product area, however, is groceries, as this is pretty much where anyone gets their food on the Island unless they're going out to one of the many fine restaurants.

The store's specialty, however, is the ever popular Squishy. The Squishy is dispensed by the store's SquishyBot, which I have still yet to draw an awesome diagram of. The SquishyBot's name is Bob, as a tribute to late assistant manager Bart Allen, and it will make your Squishy and hand it to you and it also has eyes that follow you and lasers on its head. Every day, the Squishies come in three different flavors, which change, with the exception of the ever present Red or Grape Judas.

The store is also highly moddable. It is 100% cool to say you went into the store and got something without actually having to do it. In fact, it happens quite a lot. Like I said, as far as I know, the store has everything except duct tape. Each T&C post will also have the option to mod your shopping experience with the help of Apu Nahasapeemapetilon, the store's assistant manager and slave. Also fully moddable is Liz, the store's security robot dog. She's a cute little robot puppy that is very nice and loves to be played with, until the moment you start to steal something or perhaps try to sneak up on Turtle.

Currently, the store is open 7 days a week; the store is probably kept open 24 hours a day by Apu, although, really, the player characters working at the shop are assumed to be there until about, oh, five or sixish/major handwavey. Turtle Wexler is the co-owner of the store; as you can guess, that's where the "Turtle" part comes in. The "Canary" part comes from her partner, Jane Canary, who is no longer in the game. Her share of the business is currently up for sale for potential townie characters (Jane made Turtle partner almost on accident, when Turtle came in and offered a proposal on an investment plan for a new cash register). The other owner of the store is G'Kar. The current roster of employees (besides Turtle, G'Kar, Apu, Liz, and Bob) include Hope Davis and Maron Kusakabe. There are many spots available once the new semester starts up!

The York Gallery, owned by proprietor and art dealer Charlotte York, is just a small gallery where you can go and look at art. It's open Wednesdays through Sundays, after eleven o'clock am, and on Sundays, Charlotte usually has a tea service available. Currently, the gallery features whatever exhibit is on display at the T&P Art Gallery; I have no actual, personal affiliation with T&P, I just really like their work and their website. The gallery is a great place to just go and look at cool things, and Charlotte is always eager to help you find art to purchase if you're looking for some. The gallery currently employs Eve Levine and Shilo Wallace, but will not be doing any further hiring in the new semester, as the gallery will close soon after Charlotte get married in August. Woe!

Mauvaise Chance Apartments, which one day I'll hopefully be able to spell without having to look it up, is the older apartment building in the village, currently under management by Rachel Price. It offers several floors of different apartments, as well as a roof with a landing pad and garage, and a lobby with a laundromat and holosuite. The holosuite can be used by any tenant, assuming you know the technology; Rachel doesn't have a clue, so she can't help you there. She's likely to just use it as storage. Layout and information can be found here.

Currently, there is only one apartment available to rent, a two-bedroom apartment in the sub-basement level. If you have a character on the current list who is not actually in the game anymore, thus freeing up an apartment, please let me know! Please let me know if you're interested in an apartment, either OOCly, or ICly when Rachel's in the lobby.

Oh, and Rachel's considering hiring some random, unfortunately person to do her bidding be her slave do odd-jobs around the apartment building, if anyone's interested. Job includes the benefit of constantly being accused of stealing things that in reality, Rachel has just misplaced.

I think that covers everything! Consider yourself informed.
