OOC :: Taking a Ride on the Character Info Post Train! Choo-choooo!

Jan 02, 2009 08:22

It's the most wonderful time of the year, don't you know? And I actually don't mind doing these as much when my characters don't need a bazillion warnings. But it would still be lovely for you to read! Even if I get a little tl;dr sometimes

Yasutora "Chad" Sado (senor_chado, Bleach)

Chad presses a very noticeably large presence at 6'6", and has finally stopped growing, which is good because otherwise he'd be too tall to model. Despite his impressive muscles, Chad is an avid pacifist, although he does occasionally like to wrestle things like bears, dinosaurs, trolls, and Jeff Murdock's dog (*is not look at you, Emmett, really). He's half Mexican, half Japanese, and is very dedicated to Fandom as his home and his friends as his family, since he doesn't have anyone else. He's the manager at Groovy Tunes, and doesn't talk much unless you ask him about music, in which case he will not shut up. He also has the most beautiful cat in the world, a hairless Sphinx breed names Prince Oscar Pedro Neko-kun the Third. He's buttcrazy in love with Teddy Altman, and will totally be concubine to the future alien emperor, after college.

Also, contrary to popular belief, Chad is a nickname derived from his last name Sado. It's a really lame pun on tea.

Powers: Chad's powers are very slight, and, true to canon, I kid you not, are mostly just as convenient plot devices. Currently, he can create a super-strong armour of spiritual energy around his right arm, that lets him hit things and make them sometimes go boom or hit dead things that normal people couldn't hit. He can also sense things of the spiritual world, and, if he's around Ichigo Kurosaki, he might be able to see dead people. I use this very very rarely, but, if it's something that could be problematic, let me know! He's also stronger than the average human and can take a beating like whoa, which makes me wonder sometimes if he just doesn't feel pain like normal people, because, seriously,Chad. Seriously.

Tabitha-Ruth "Turtle" Wexler (stocksgrrl, The Westing Game)

Turtle Wexler will have to kick a bitch if they ever call her Tabitha-Ruth, and, trust me, you don't want her to kick you. Turtle's a completely normal sixteen (almost seventeen!) year old, with a few exceptions: she has a kick that could almost cripple you, honed from many years of practise, she is brilliant with stocks, bonds, the market, and other business related ventures, and she's a whiz in the courtroom. She won her first case at the age of fifteen, and that case also happened to manage to net her a crap ton of money, $20,000,000 to be exact. Since she's so business savvy, too, it's been invested and since increased to much more, but, really, no one would be able to tell that she's a self-made millionaire just talking to her. She keeps her riches relatively secret, privy to only a few, although her position as the co-owner of Turtle & Canary does make it known that she's very successful for such a young person. Despite being buttcrazy in love with her roommate and boyfriend, Jeff Murdock, she has a crush on ~every boy~, not that she'd ever admit it.

Her favourite colour is green and she hates being from Wisconsin.

Adah Ellen Price (ecirpnellehada, The Poisonwood Bible)

Adah is an alumna and typically hates people, so she's very unlikely to ever interact with you if you're new, though she does make appearances at several functions because she's buttcrazy in love with Lee Adama, who is still here, and which makes no sense. She's a hemipeligic going to medical school in Georgia in 1963...well, 1964 now. She only talks to you if she likes you enough, and has found that she actually likes a lot more people than she ever expected to. She still has a very noticeable limp on her entire right side, and rarely has the function to use that side.

Charlotte York (perfectmissyork, Sex and the City)

Charlotte York was rocking the polished Upper East side thing since Blair Waldorf was still in designer diapers. A rocky divorce drove her from New York City to Fandom Island, struggling to come to terms with her unfappable belief in Twu Wuv. She opened up a little art gallery in what used to be a brothel, and got comfortable, and fell buttcrazy in love with Dale Cooper, who also lives with her in the apartment above the gallery that used to be a brothel. She's incredibly sweet and kind but prone to occasional rants that come out of nowhere and (if I'm doing them properly) will make you go "0.o". And she looooooves shoes, omg, and has recently gained a pet in the former showdog Elizabeth Taylor.

Calliope Helen Stephanides (not_a_mused, Middlesex)

...or, as everyone knows him around here, just Cal. For such a slim, lanky figure, Cal Stephanides has a lot of issues bundled up inside. A lot. First and foremost, the crux of his character is that he is a hermaphrodite, having both male and female parts, and he didn't even know it until he was fourteen and got hit by a tractor. Up until that point, he thought he was a girl. A very, very unobservant family doctor helped propagate the idea that Cal was a girl from his birth, and he was raised a girl, and almost had surgery to remain a girl up until he ran away in 1974, because not only does he identify himself as male despite how he grew up, but he technically is chromosomally male, being straight-up XY, although mutated XY. He ran away to San Fransisco, where he lives with Deadheads, got beat up by bums, and then worked in a sex show in a strip joint, only to wind up in jail when it got busted because he was only fourteen/fifteen at the time. So yeah, he's got an issue or two.

Basically, he's pretty normal, though, unless one of his many buttons get pushed, and then he turns into a big cranky pants. He's still fairly secretive about his hermaphroditism, and has a very strong desire to prove his male-ness at almost all times. He's buttcrazy in love with almost anything female, but has a particular spot for Claire Fisher and her red hair, and God only knows what the week holds in store for him and exgirlfriend/best friend Amber Atkins.

Like I said, in normal interaction, he's fine. He's a little snarky at times, and his apathy for other people can drive some characters insane, but he's very normal if he's not dwelling on what makes him abnormal, which he's starting to think might not be as horrible as he originally thought it was.

Minsc and Boo (berserkerminsc, Baldur's Gate)

Minsc is a massive man in dented armour, battle-scarred and purple tattooed. He comes from the country of Rashamen, Faerûn, part of the world of Abeir-Toril, and he is a ranger berserker. He has also been a mercenary for goodness! for as long as he can remember, which might be saying a lot, or it might be saying very little, as sometimes Minsc's memory is not the best. Neither is his sanity. The years and his incredibly impulsive attack methods have left him with a lot of head damage. He is intelligent at time, and he's undoubtedly good at what he does, but it's clear that he's not all there. One of the most obvious ways this manifests is in the form of his companion, Boo. Minsc will insist that Boo is a giant miniature space hamster with a great, fathomless knowledge and incredible powers. Boo is very clearly your run-of-the-mill hamster, though nothing will ever convince Minsc of that (though he does every so often have suspicions).

Minsc is very easy to get along with as long as you follow one condition: you are not a bad-doer. He has a very strong sense of justice and will likely try to attack anyone acting against the agents of good. Thankfully, due to his condition, he can easily 'look the other way' in the sense that he misinterprets many things to be good.

He is not all just fun and hitting things, though. There's a very good reason why he gave up adventuring, and, if that reason comes up, he has odd moments of clarity that he tries to cover up and avoid by leaning on his condition.

Powers: As well as being very familiar with nature and animals as per his ranger training, Minsc also has the ability of a few minor spells, which he can only use once per day: minor curing, blessing water to make it holy, buffering up his companions in a fight. He's very trained at the sword and the bow. He is also a berserker, which is very important, but will be rarely used, and only happens when he gets REALLY PISSED OFF (you wouldn't like him when he's angry!) or someone he's sworn to protect is very hurt or he himself is close to unconsciousness. When he goes berserk, Minsc gains even more strength than he already has, making him a colossal force. Unfortunately, he has absolutely no control over himself and will attack indiscriminately. As I said, though, this will happen very rarely, and usually only for plotty purposes.

...Or to help give him a reason to renovate his house. La la la.

He teaches Magical Creatures and is very enthusiastic about his subject. He loves when his students are, as well, and loves interacting with them. Teaching isn't quite adventuring, but he gets a lot out of it all the same.

Detective Constable Daisy Day (justice_beat, Anansi Boys)

"Each person who ever was or is or will be has a song. It isn't a song that anybody else wrote. It has its own melody, it has its own words. Very few people get to sing their own song. Most of us fear that we cannot do it justice with our voices, or that our words are too foolish or too honest, or too odd. So people live their songs instead.

Take Daisy, for example. Her song, which had been somewhere in the back of her head for most of her life, had a reassuring, marching sort of beat, and words that were about protecting the weak, and it had a chorus that began 'Evildoers beware!' and was thus much too silly to ever be sung out loud. She would hum it to herself sometimes though, in the shower, during the soapy bits.

And that is, more or less, everything you need to know about Daisy. The rest is details."
--Neil Gaiman, Anansi Boys, pgs. 164-165

I love that excerpt right there, straight from Daisy's canon, and I firmly believe that if I had to tell you anything more than that about her, then I'm clearly playing her incorrectly. So there you have it. The rest is details.

That's all! Just a note on me and availability: sometimes I'm flaky, but I'm usually around, and will always, always, always respond promptly to emails, to compensate for how rarely I'm able to get on AIM.
