Squeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! I just giggled through that whole thing. NA is probably my second favourite J.A. book because I love the spoofing, the tongue-in-cheekiness of it... and this... well, I think I liked the heroine and hero of the tv movie more than in the book. Fabulous! Henry Tilney is adorable and so was Catherine (in fact, I had little pity for her in the book. I think they made her more self-aware in this adaptation and so more likeable).
And I know I like an actor when he seems rather goofy to me at first but he gets more and more handsome as I get to know him (his ears notwithstanding). He reminded me in looks and a bit in voice like Jude Law... just not quite so handsome or rakish. Swoon, Mr. Tilney! You are a sweetheart!
I know this was the best loved of the new adaptations and while I haven't seen the rest, I really don't expect to be as delighted. However, NA is probably the easiest one to modernize and adapt... spoofing romance is so fun!
Oh, and the kiss! Go Catherine! Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay better and much more rewarding in its own way than the one for Persuasion. I am so pleased right now! Where can I get a good Tilney icon? :P
