i've been thinking about getting a slr camera for years now, i never got round to it though, mostly cause i can't ever really seem to save up enough money. orginally i wanted to just get a canon, as cheap as possible since i'd be an amateur, but i've been thinking about maybe just saving up some extra money (or try to at least) and just get a nikon. i'm really hesitant though as it's a lot of money and i don't want to waste it on something i hardly use...
There's so many wonderful, reasonably priced camera's out there that offer really good quality. I think if you're going to buy something that you won’t use very often then there's no point in spending a lot on it- save the money. If I would have known this I would have totally let you have my Nikon P80. I didn't see the need to have two cameras since getting my new one, so I gave my Nikon to a friend just a few days ago. I always recommend Nikon P80, to everyone because it's very affordable, and has such good quality of pictures. It’s not an SLR, but people always thought it was but it looked a lot like one, and because the quality was so beautiful. Also, because it was a Nikon it was super user friendly and super easy to use. I think Canon's always kind of lacked that. Even when comparing manuals on both Nikon, and Canon's- Nikons are always a lot more easy to read and to understand. Which lends a hand to people who aren't so familiar with using cameras a whole lot. Works good for people who want to take good photos, without all the

I see what you are saying. I think I kind of always wish I had a point and shoot camera, just because it is a lot more convenient to carry around, because I take my camera everywhere, and it’s definitely heavy. I really want one, but I think it’s a bit silly spending money on a new one. I don’t need two of them.
I think what you got, is good for you. I think when you are ready you, and feel you want to invest time and money on a good camera, you should definitely look into buying a swanky one.
well i really do want to invest time and money on a good camera, just not too much money seeing as i'm not at all professionally involved. i mean i just don't have the money to get a camera that is over a 1000 euros, so i just want to start our with a good and reasonable priced SLR and then maybe eventually move on to something better (and more expensive with that i guess haha), that just depends though. i can't predict the future, all i know is i've wanted an SLR camera for about 4 years now and i'm hoping to finally get it this year
and i would love to see some of your pictures once you take some with your new camera! :)
