There was something very satisfying about this time of year for Gilderoy. Not only was it a generally joyous time of year, and business was good, but it would soon mark the one-year of anniversary of the night when Julian proposed to him.
Oh yes, he was counting the days. And down in the cellar - in his workroom, he was in the process of creating something that he hoped would leave his most precious lover absolutely speechless. He and his animals had been working on it for the better part of two months now, and it was coming along quite nicely - especially since he was doing everything by hand rather than using those charmed needles and scissors.
And yet, he still found he had plenty of time to work on his inventory. After the charity event at Hallowe'en, his sales had increased by a healthy percentage, and he found his coffers filling more quickly than ever. It seemed the wizarding world was ready to cling to its tradition again, and people were buying more and more traditional wizarding robes for their family members and loved ones. It was nice to see so many of his own styles and interpretations on tradition walking around town.
Part of him also believed that Julian was just as proud at seeing them as he was.
So, when he opened the store on this particular Thursday (after eating the little chocolate stocking that was hidden behind the upstairs bedroom window on his advent calendar), it was with a brilliant and charming smile that he got to the work of organising the front of his store, assembling even more knitting baskets, and preparing for another exciting and eventful day at work.
