Parvati looked around her flat. It looked a bit forlorn and sadly neglected. While it wasn't anything like the pig sty it had been when Lavender delivered her from her self-imposed hell that day, there was a layer of dust over everything and a feeling that someone had left in a hurry.
Which was probably true. It was so much easier to stay at Dean's house when she'd worked out at the fitness center, to just pop upstairs and take a shower. Plus, his kitchen was larger and better equipped than hers. Little by little, some of her favorite cooking utensils had been left over at his house, and over half her wardrobe was there, too.
And then there was
the cat, who was not pleased with her at all. Parvati made certain to come by every day and play with her and attend to her needs, but it really wasn't fair to leave her alone so much. She wondered how Dean would feel about her bringing the cat with her when she spent the night.
She walked to the window, looking out at the familiar view. Last year at this time, she spent most of her time staring out this very window, and the falling leaves, which had previously comforted her, only depressed her. Now, she felt the wind growing brisk and the nights growing long, and all she thought was that she would get to spend cold nights by the fire with Dean.
This place was her refuge, but it was also the place where she'd been very, very lonely.
She thought about Lavender upstairs, tempted to go on up and drop in on her. But even that had lost it's appeal, because the odds were that she'd be interrupting something. The days of spontenaiety were over. They were better off making plans.
Shaking off her melancholy, she got down to business, cleaning the flat until it sparkled, doing her laundry, making a bowl of canned soup and pouring a glass of wine.
Afterwards, she sat down in her cozy chair, enjoying both of them and looking through her photo album. Shiva finally deigned to come over and sit on her lap, and she watched the sunset, closing the window when the temperature became uncomfortably cool.
She sighed. There was no point in pretending she was content this way. Even if Dean was busy with work, it was far better just being in his place, with all of their things mingled together, where his scent was in the air.
Putting together another small bag of clothing, she threw her photo album on top, along with her favorite ladle . She put the cat over her shoulder, holding her tightly and closing her eyes. When she opened them again, she was in Dean's living room and she sighed, setting the cat down to look around
