Roger went to the fridge for a bottle of water, chugging it as he moved to take a seat at the large wooden island in the middle of their kitchen. He glanced toward the door for what had to be the fifth time since he'd gone downstairs.
Hermione was upstairs in the little room that he'd not seen since they'd found the house, the one that she was putting together to surprise him. He was extremely curious what she'd done with it. The library was far to large a room to hide, so he'd been working on that, with Zach's help, while she'd been able to watch the progress. But Hermione had kept this secret from him for a month. He was fairly certain Zach had been working with her on that, though he'd not been able to get a word out of the man.
It touched him unbelievably that Hermione was doing this for him. And even though this was supposed to be his special room, much like Hermione's library was hers, he hoped she'd want to spend some time in there with him. And he couldn't wait to see it now.
Zuzu scampered excitedly into the room followed by a faintly amused Crookshanks, and Roger reached down and ruffled Zuzu's fur; it was really getting long, with less puppy fuzz. He opened the back door to let her out to play while Crooks took up a spot in the corner. He sort of wanted to head upstairs now and pop in on Hermione, but he'd promised to wait until she was finished doing whatever it was she was doing. He grinned and took his seat again.
