It had been a little nerve-wracking, having that broom in her house as long as she had and not giving it to him. He spent all of his time here, had access to every room, and hiding it had not

When she laid her head on his hand, he ran his thumb over the corner of her mouth. It was there, though and he couldn't change that. He knew she felt something more for him but he wondered if she'd ever gotten over her lover she'd been with for five years? He wondered if she'd ever be able to feel for him like he did her.
"You don't know yourself very well. You are stubborn but that's what I like about you." He returned to their conversation before she got suspicious.
His heart was hammering in his chest as he looked over the broom, hefting the shaft and felt the heaviness of the wood. He angled it up and looked down the barrel of the stick and then noted the quality of the besom and straw. "It's perfect and the weight distribution is just right for me. I don't see how you did it. Is it Johnson's?" He frowned at her next comment and sat next to her. "Because I'm not used to it and if anyone deserves it, it's you."
He tried to think of what he could do for her past remodeling now but he thoughts were in a frenzy. Still, he was stunned by her reply and nodded, his eyes meeting hers as he said, "You mean the world to me." He hesitated for a moment before he added. "I want you to fly with me on the first ride. Off the deck and I promise, I'll keep you safe. I'd never let anything happen to you."

"I know myself very well. Which is why I know I'm not stubborn." She smiled knowing she was being stubborn and enjoying it and the fact that he seemed to be back in good humor.
Watching him examine the broom with such thoroughness was so very validating. She had known he would like it. Had known he would love it, but seeing it first hand was all the more exhilarating. "Yes, it's Angelina's." She watched as he sat down, suddenly confused. He looked even more lost than he had earlier. "I can tell you're not used to it, but you do deserve it, and you need it anyway." Never mind that she had ordered the broom even before try outs.
You mean the world to me. Her eyes widened, and she felt her heart skip one beat, then two. Padma forced herself to take a breath and found it nearly as euphoric as the words themselves. Then he asked her to fly with him and the euphoria was replaced with fear. She looked from him to the broom, which suddenly didn't seem so wonderful, and then back at him. She shuddered and shook her head. "I'm terrified of flying, Marcus."

She didn't know what she'd done to him. The pure animal lust that coursed through Marcus had been tempered and he simmered, his body constantly churning now, always ready to slide off that edge into the frenzy she caused within him so easily. But now, he wanted to make love to her, to hold her for hours too and that was completely different from anything he'd ever experienced.
"I many just have to forgive her for that incident then." Marcus smirked and let the back of his broom drop as he held it. "She did do a wonderful job. This is a fine piece of craftsmanship." He didn't let it slip that he knew it took weeks to build and charm a proper broom. Padma had ordered this weeks before because he knew the broom was custom made. Wrapping his arms around her, he kissed her deeply, showing her instead of telling her the intensity of his feelings for her before he pulled away.
Frowning at her admission, he thought for a moment. He wanted to take her flying and share with her that part of his life. But she'd shown that she supported him and he'd never make her do anything against her will. Well, almost anything. Sex didn't count. Still, he bit his inner lip before he said, "I'd never let anything hurt you ever." He held his hand out to her and smiled. "Will you trust me? I promise you won't have anything to be scared of but you're my good luck charm and I want you to be with me on the first flight." Marcus hesitated before his eyes caught hers and he added. "Please."

Closing her eyes, she thought she could stay like this forever. Funny, how things had changed so much in such a short time.
"You might just." She chuckled, looking at him as he admired the broom. She laid her head against his shoulder and looked up at him just in time to be kissed. The emotion in it nearly drowned her. She clung to him tightly, fingers burying in shirt as she responded with everything she had. She was afraid to let go, afraid she really would fall and drown. She need to hold on to him.
Padma whimpered when he pulled away and went back to flying. She saw his frown and knew that she wouldn't be getting out of this. She knew when he was determined to have this. She looked down at his hand when he held it out to her, and she bit her own lip as her heart began to pound in fear. She swallowed and looked up at him. She couldn't say no. Not to him, not to this. She nodded slowly and took his hand. "All right."

"Talking to you." He blurted out as he pulled away slightly but still had his arms wrapped around her waist. "When we met by the river that first time. I remember I wanted to sit on that log with you all night." Marcus admitted quietly. "It's strange what you think of sometimes."
When they kissed, he thought once more that every time their lips touched, she made him burn, every time his tongue swept into her mouth, he discovered something new, something that made him fall for her even more. He knew that each time their lips would press together even tighter, their shared passion would nearly overwhelm him. He didn't want to possess her anymore, he wanted to share with her and that was yet another revelation.
He watched her as she fretted over his request for her to fly with him. This wasn't a test. He really did believe that it was her that had let him see that there was more to life than rage and fear. Even though those lessons had begun with Violet, it took having Padma in his life to understand.
"Thank you. You can trust me." His hand wrapped around hers, his thumb brushing against her knuckles to reassure her. He pulled her closer and began to lead her back up to the observation deck before he said determinedly, "I won't let you down."

"Talking to me?" She looked up at he pulled away, blinking at him as she listened. She smiled and laid her head back on his shoulder. "I had to leave, or I would have let you go further than I should have. Not that it matter, considering you on my door step a few days later."
Padma must have been out of her mind to agree to this. She sat there, looking at the broom and suddenly feeling faintly ill. She swallowed it and put her faith in him. She had to. She followed him up to the deck, starting to shake but a little bit reassured by his words. "All right." She looked at the broom and then out at the landscape. "Let's just do this then."

He continued to hold her hand, steadying Padma. Marcus pulled her closer to him as they stood on the observation deck under the night sky. He tilted her chin up and kissed her softly, letting the passion rise between them as he threaded his hand through her long, dark hair. He pulled away after endless moments, seeing the stars in her dark eyes and he almost blurted out his true feelings for her.
But instead, he kissed her forehead and pulled away before mounting the broom. It felt right and he reveled in the power that the broom held. He scooted back slightly on the stick and held out his hand to Padma while he asked, "Trust me?"

Padma turned her head up and kissed him gently, whimpering softly again, not wanting him to let go of her. She watched him as he pulled away, feeling her heart pound in her chest. "Marcus..."
But she fell silent as he kissed her forehead and moved away. He got on the broom, and she moved over to him, looking at him and it as he slid back and offered his hand. She swallowed before nodding and taking his hand, letting him pull her on. "Oh dear gods." She began to shake.

It was a moment he'd remember for a lifetime, the moonlight dancing against her skin, her eyes so clear he could see his future in them. He almost told her everything. That he loved her, that he wanted to think about a future with her. But he decided to wait and took her hand, putting her in front of him. He kicked off slowly, resisting the urge to really fly and instead he let the broom hover over the observation deck.
Chuckling, he let the broom rise but no higher than what would be her shoulder height. He guided the broom with one hand as he reached around her body and wrapped his arm around her. Marcus gripped her tightly while he whispered into her ear. "You're flying and thank you for trusting me. But even if it takes years, one day I want you to really fly with me." He kissed her hair. "I want to make you soar."

On the broom though, she wasn't content. She was terrified. She shook in his grasp, her eyes shut tight. She whimpered as he pulled her against him. She heard him whisper into her ear, but she couldn't really listen. It was too much, too frightening. She bit her lip, her hands rising to grip his arms tightly, her nails digging into his skin. "I want to go down."

Marcus winced when she dug her nails into his skin and knew they'd gone far enough. He brought the broom down to hover low enough so she could touch her feet to the deck if she wanted. When they were on the surface, he placed the broom on the deck and held onto Padma, steadying her while he asked quietly, "Are you okay, love?"

Padma started to breathe again when her feet touched the ground. Then she let him pull her to him, wrapping her arms around him tightly. She shook in his arms and did her best to hold back tears even while cursing herself for being this pathetic. She whimpered and nodded her head. "I'm all right."

"You did great." He replied soothingly, stroking her hair as he held her against his chest once again. Tilting his head away, he looked down at her. "I won't ask you to do that again. I'm sorry but you don't know what that meant to me. You're my good luck charm and now I know that the broom will be blessed. He could see the mist in her eyes as he said quietly. "Just like me."

Padma buried her face against his chest and just shuddered. Any other time, she would have heard what he had to say and the significance of his words. Any other time, she would have responded, but the fear was still all too real for her. All she could do was cling to him tightly and whimper.
