The shop had been quiet the entire day and Justin was all alone. Eloise had stepped out just a moment ago, in search of ingredients for her mad experiments in the back kitchen, so his source of intellectual stimulation was gone. He'd taken to playing with the till, punching in random numbers and having the drawer ping open and close, just to pass the time. Surely Eloise would come back soon, with new and interesting flavors she planned on turning into sweets. She did have a knack for unique concepts, and also, he was hungry.
Justin nicked a chocolate from the glass case in front of the counter and munched on it, resuming his game with the till. The drawer pinged open and shut four more times before he noticed the sales receipts spilling out of the top and piling up on the floor. His eyes widened, and he hoped he didn't just ruin the records for the week. He hastily hopped onto the glass case, an unwise move that luckily had no bad consequence involving glass shards stuck up his arse, and slid across to the other side where the receipt paper had been pooling. He couldn't tell where he'd first started inputting the random numbers.
"Shite," he scowled.
