RP: New Familiar and OWL Correspondence.

Jul 30, 2007 16:09

Hannah arrived home from Visiting Familiar Ground and buying an owl of her own. She set the owl's cage down on the kitchen table, took Grendel off of his leash, and did a charm to make sure all of the doors and windows in the house were closed. "Okay, Breca," she told the newly christened owl, "Make yourself at home. Just be nice to your canine brother and I'll have a few owls to deliver for you soon." The owl seemed to understand, and flew out of the room, following Grendel toward the library. Keeping an ear out for animal mischief, Hannah dug out the to do list she'd made the other day and set about writing owls.

Dear Neville,

I feel like I've owed you an owl for quite some time.  Sorry I've been such a bad correspondent!  Any way, I wondered if there were any plants or herbs that I have that you'd need for your shop.  We could always trade cuttings if you're interested.  Even getting together to talk shop sometime would be fun.

I've also been meaning to tell you that I admired the way you volunteered to help the new school furnish their greenhouse(s) and wanted to volunteer my help as well.   Let me know what I can do to help, will you?

Thanks,
 Hannah

Dear Eloise,

I've been utterly remiss in contacting you since that day I embarrassed myself at your shop.  I hope you've found sufficient help for your day to day work.  However, if you still need me (and trust me) to help out occasionally, I'd be willing and able.  I keep the books for the museum, so if you need help with book keeping occasionally I would be available.

Again, sorry about the delay!
Hannah

Dear Wayne,

I've missed you, luv, and I'm sorry for being unsociable.  Can I make it up to you over drinks or dinner sometime soon?  I caught up with Ernie recently, but I miss my other boy as well.

Love,
 Hannah Banana

Dear Luna,

It's been a while since we've talked.  I understand that you're working at the hospital still and I wondered if you knew if they're in need of any potions ingredients or herbal remedies.  I imagine that the twins' apothecary shop keeps you pretty well supplied, but my greenhouse is doing well, so let me know if you need something, alright?  Also, drop me a line if you have time to catch up sometime.

Hannah

Dear Susan,

I've missed you, girl!  We need to catch up sometime soon, either here on the hill or at your farm.  Be nice to my new owl, Breca, but let me know if she doesn't behave herself, won't you?

Hope to hear from you soon!

Love,
Hannah.

Dear Cedric,

I feel like I never see you anymore, despite working with you almost every day.  Anyway, I just wondered what the museum was doing specially for the upcoming Arts Fair.  If we need to have extended hours or something that's great, but we should probably discuss it as a staff sometime soon.  I should be available for most of the festival, except when Ernie's playing a duet with Marietta Edgecombe.

Love,
Han
Finally she decided she couldn't put off Ernie and Eleanor any longer.  She picked out a piece of her favorite parchment and wrote:

Dear Ernie,

I enjoyed our recent dinner together.  We really should do that more often, and next time we need to include your lady love.  My offer to go shopping with you still stands, but if that's something you want to do with her or on your own I will understand.  My sisterly advice is also available if you want help planning a grand way to actually 'pop the question,' as the Muggles say.

Love always,
 Han

PS: I charmed this parchment to be for our eyes only.  I wouldn't want to give away the surprise.
PPS: I finally got my own owl.  This is Breca, and I hope she behaves herself for Uncle Ernie.  With any luck, you'll get along better than you did with her canine brother.
Having finished her correspondence (for now), Hannah went into the library to find her erstwhile pets.  They were taking it in turns to chase each other around the library table, but it didn't look like they'd hurt anything.  She smiled and held her arm out.  Breca noticed and flew over and landed on it; she'd clearly been well trained.  They walked together to the kitchen window, where Hannah attached the owls to the birds leg in order.  "Are you ready for a true test of your delivery talents, girl?" she asked.  The owl hooted affirmatively and Hannah gave her a treat for strength.  "Wait for a reply from Ernie; he's your last stop, okay?  And if any of the others ask you to, wait there too."  The owl seemed to understand, so she decided to let her go with one final direction, "You can stop for a snack if you want to, but don't stay out all night hunting until I've seen you again."  With that, the lovely bird flew off into the evening sky.
