Dean surveyed his work with satisfaction. It was beginning to look like a building again instead of a pile of bricks. He had broken up the second, third and fourth floors into large roomy flats keeping the top floor for him and leaving the bottom floor open for offices. There were four flats per floor and while none of the interior stuff was done yet, all of the interior walls of the building were up and had stayed up. Doing construction by magic required some serious concentration and charm work, it was almost easier to do it the muggle way and in fact; Dean had reinforced many of the walls with good old fashioned muggle nails. He was hoping to do some work on the interior soon so that they would be habitable shortly and then he would have to go about getting people to live there.

He went back up to his floor and took a look at the work he had done there after pulling a beer out of his fridge. He had considered cutting the top floor of the building into flats as well, but had opted to keep it all to himself. Part of it served as living quarters, but part of it was also an office and workroom where he had plenty of space to do his drafting and architectural models. There was also a small art studio in the corner that had a great view of the river for the occasional moments when Dean had time to sketch or paint.

He plopped himself down on his couch pulling the small coffee table closer to him. He sifted through the pile of papers on it and picked up the letter he had gotten back from Parvati.

Dear Dean,

I am so glad to hear from you. I’ve worried about you since the last time we spoke.

I’ve really missed talking to you and would love to catch up.

I’ve been really busy fixing up my new place. I’m sure you’ve heard that I am at the Copper Towers. You’d think I would see my neighbors a lot, but everybody has been too busy to do much socializing. Lavender is one floor below me, and Padma lives nearby. Wouldn’t it be nice to have something of a Gryffindor reunion? Or perhaps we can meet at the Five-Alarm pub, just the two of us? Let me know when you have a free evening and I’ll try to make it.

Affectionately,

Parvati

Dean had not spoken to, or seen her, in a very long time, but when Seamus mentioned that he had seen her Dean wondered if he should not send her an owl. They had had a brief… something… in their seventh year; he was not even sure what to call it. He still had a sketch or two that he had done of her among his drawings that he had found when unpacking and he wondered if she was still as beautiful as she had been in school. “Probably,” he muttered to himself.

He reached for another piece of paper that he had pulled off a wall on his last walk through town. Oliver Wood was planning on holding a Quidditch day, “How very Oliver,” he thought, but Dean knew that it was probably a really good idea. It would be a good way for people to reconnect and it might also generate some interest in restarting the leagues, which was as necessary to the prosperity of the wizarding world as the Ministry of Magic in his opinion. He pulled a quill off the floor and wrote a return owl to Parvati suggesting that they meet after the Quidditch game and he wrote Oliver with some questions.

Wood,
I saw your posters, nice job man. I had a quick question about the day o’ Quidditch, is there going to be some sort of schedule or are they more like pick up games? It would be great to come and catch up with everyone and get back on a broom again.
Dean
