It didn't matter if it was a cool, rainy, windy day. He was flying and Caradoc loved to fly. He loved flying almost as much as he loved playing Quidditch. Not as much as he loved his family, but then everyone in his family, except for his "Auntie Arabella", played Quidditch, so it had never been hard to combine those things he loved when he was in America. Here in Stoatshead Hill, though, Caradoc hadn't had any opportunity to play or even much time to fly.
The rains had been fairly relentless for days and days, but at least today the rains were light and there was no thunder. The winds were strong, but he decided that would only make flying more challenging. Overall, the conditions were far from right for a leisurely fly, but perfect for practicing control. As soon as he decided he wasn't going to let the weather stop him, he pulled on his padded Quidditch gear to deal with the elements, told Cai what he planned to do, grabbed his broom and took to the sky.
Caradoc had been flying almost all of his life and playing Quidditch nearly as long. He had been a good Beater in school, but he had been completely over shadowed in the years he played with Hufflepuff's Ludo Bagman, who it was obvious from the start had star potential. He hadn't minded in the least, having no aspirations toward playing professionally himself, but it did inspire him to work harder and become better. Hufflepuffs never liked letting their team down, and Ludo's ambitions meant that Caradoc worked diligently to play as far up as he could to the other Beater's level.
Now he was soaring over the river, following its course and using the bridges to dive and practice weaving. He'd brought his charmed practice bludger and his beater's bat and was laughing at the near misses. The wind was giving the bludger an edge it usually didn't have when charmed for one person play, which made it all more fun in his opinion. What mattered was that he was flying and Caradoc loved to fly.
