Cedric had become aware of the Cult of Lush only late in his years living in Canada, only by extension, and with no little amusement. He'd let himself be dragged into the Toronto store exactly once. It stank, frankly. Well, in his opinion it stank, and he couldn't quite grasp how his otherwise financially conservative fiancée could drop over $50 on soap when he could barely get her to buy real butter, decent coffee and name-brand biscuits instead of generic crap. 'President's Choice' chocolate chip did not taste anywhere at all the same as Keebler or Nabisco, much less what one bought from the bakery at Zehr's.

But she'd buy Lush bubble bath bars at $6 a slice, and it left him scratching his head. In fact, about half the witches in the academy had frequented the Muggle shoppe on Queen Street instead of buying Wizarding products. The greatest irony of all was that he'd found out about Lush in Canada when it was, in fact, a British store and he'd been a bit surprised to turn a corner in London one day only to stumble upon a local shoppe on Kensington High Street. He hadn't gone in. He still thought it stank.

But. He'd remembered that he'd seen it, and when he'd been thinking of how to woo Katie after not having seen her more than in passing for a week, it had come to mind. He had no idea if she'd be as enamoured of fancy soap as his Canadian female colleagues, but decided it was worth a shot. So he'd Apparated to London, steeled himself, tried to breathe through his mouth, and had ducked into the store -- promptly to be pounced on by the help, who must have known a Confused Boyfriend (tm) when they saw one. He'd left with a few bubble bars of various scents -- none that he remembered Gwen using, intentionally. Tonight, he'd let himself into her place after he'd finished work, getting it (and himself) ready. He'd showered and shaved, then changed from work clothes, but didn't bother with a shirt. He didn't often play the 'intentionally sexy' card (it felt too ridiculous) but tonight had decided to give it a whirl.

On the table was a half sandwich and soup, spelled not to grow stale or cold in the open air. If all she was eating was popcorn, she'd be hungry. He'd also turned off the electric lights and lit candles as it was the one thing he knew she'd truly liked about non-Muggle living. They were all over the flat -- on the dining room table, the living room, the little bedroom and covering the bathroom counter. He wasn't drawing the bath until she was home, however.

He'd also got things ready in the bedroom. She'd seemed open to a bit of experimentation, so he had a few ... ideas, and he'd changed her sheets from the usual to something else -- not satin, as those were cold and too slick. (He'd slept on them once and wasn't a fan.) No, he'd bought simple soft jersey cotton that slid divinely along bare skin. It didn't sound fancy, but it felt loads better. Bright, passion red. She could laugh. He occasionally had a sense of humor about such things. Sitting on the pillow was a little box secured with a gold bow.

Now, he sprawled on the couch, waiting and flipping channels with the remote. There was nothing on any of the BBC stations at this hour, not even decent news.
