It had been a terribly long week. By the time Friday afternoon arrived, Hermione was ready to get out and take a walk. Ron was gone, staying with Charlie until he found a place of his own, and she'd spent most of the last few days at Roger's house after work. It was avoidance, of course, but she knew if she saw Harry, she might interfere. Well, there wasn't really any 'might' about it since she knew herself well enough to acknowledge her faults. Meddling when the boys were having a fight, even if one was unaware of said fight, was a bad habit ( ... )

Viktor looked up when Hermione walked in and set down the pieces he was assembling. "Hermione! I am wonder if it is that I will see you here." He smiled. "Is new, so it is some parts, I must use two or three tries, but is fun. Also, Maire is like to have this neighbor girl, which is play with her, for something with tea and some dolls, so is all for everybody, good."

He pointed at the train car, with its front wheels attached and the back ones in pieces. "It is many different train parts to make, so it is connecting, so." He demonstrated a hook into a hole with his fingers, in a gesture which in other contexts might be crude, he realized after the fact. Well, he hadn't meant it that way.

"How are you? I am not see you for ...is three weeks? Is too long."

"I don't drop by too often during the week, though I do occasionally kidnap Roger for lunch, but I was out for a walk and thought I'd stop in," she explained, smiling as she tried to figure out what he was making. "I'm glad you're enjoying the work, and that Maire's enjoying the babysitter."

"A train? It'll be like the Hogwarts Express," she said, arching a brow when he demonstrated the part mechanics to her. She smiled slightly when he seemed to realize the motion he was making could be taken an entirely different way. "It looks quite complicated, but I'm sure it'll be lovely when you've finished."

"Far too long," she agreed. She walked beneath the loft and leaned against the wall so she could speak with him. Since the shop was empty, now was as good a time as any for a brief catch up. "I'm doing well. Better in some areas than others, of course. How are you and Maire?"

"We are well," Viktor said. "She is now have... obsessing? Is word neighbor girl is using. This is meaning, always always to pay attention at? with arrange of doll at her bed. It is, idea she has, to place each by how doll is behave. If doll is nice today, or is brat. Is very complicating system. So far, I am not yet guess which is right place." He chuckled. "Is odd game, but it is seem, she likes."

He'd turned toward her as he spoke, and he tilted his head now. "But, what is it, which is not better of area, which is not well to you?"

After stopping work on Angelina's shop for the day, Roger had headed home to grab a quick snack before heading into the shop, deciding on an apple because it was fast and relatively portable. He was already ahead of schedule on the renovations at the Quidditch shoppe, and so figured he'd spend some time in the workshop as he'd promised himself yesterday. Dennis' and Rabastan's furniture was completed now, and all that was left was to deliver the last pieces. Rabastan had mentioned wanting to hold off on delivery until next Friday, and he could bring Dennis' pieces by tomorrow morning when Dennis wasn't working ( ... )

Hermione was about to reply to Viktor's comment about making toys when she heard the door open. She had her wand in hand within seconds, even though she knew she'd set the wards and there wasn't much risk here.

When she saw that it was Roger, she put the wand away and smiled as she watched him walk towards them. There was just something about the way he moved that made it nearly impossible to look away. Or maybe she was just that pathetic now?

"Afternoon, Roger," she said, resisting the urge to give him a proper kiss since they weren't alone. He kissed her cheek and mentioned her ears, which caused her to look at him curiously. "I went for a walk and decided to stop by. Viktor and I have been catching up."

At Hermione's curious look, Roger smiled and shook his head slightly. "Was just thinking about you," he explained quietly. He looked at her for a bit longer than he probably should have with Viktor standing right there, but it couldn't have been helped.

Looking up after a moment, he nodded, remembering that Viktor had mentioned in his owl that he'd not seen Hermione in too long. "I'm glad you did," he said, then gestured to the yet-unfinished train. "Viktor's been showing me up. Nothing I've attempted so far has looked as good as that."

Pausing, he located a rubbish bin and tossed his apple core away and wiped his hands on the rag sticking out of his back pocket. "How's your day going?"

Viktor nodded his hello and watched the easy kiss on Hermione's cheek. He smiled, but didn't say anything about how she didn't flinch (though, she still did when someone came in the door, he noted). "Yes, but I am not have talent to build furniture. I am more easy to make smaller and not must hold up something, item."

He fit the second back wheel onto its axle and did a glueing charm, following by a drying one, then rolled the train car on his workbench. It wobbled a little, but was nearly square, and Viktor thought probably a little wobble only made for better authenticism, as far as trains went.

"Is good day, to me," he answered, referring back to Roger's earlier question. "you are finish more early, with your work? More early as expecting."
