It's never going to get any less confusing, especially for you.  You're about as certain as you can be, and thinking about it too long is only going to leave him free to slip through your fingers.

Parvati had been hiding out again, and she knew it.  Of course, she'd been seeing what seemed like every one in town instead of just sitting around with her cat, but still, she had been avoiding the one person she wanted to see the most.  Or maybe he'd been avoiding her-she couldn't be certain.  He could have been giving her space, or he could have heard about her meeting with Charlie at the Five Alarm and assumed she'd been trying to patch things up with him.  And, in all honesty, there would have been a grain of truth in that assumption, but their conversation had made it abundantly clear that she and Charlie had no future together, at least as a couple.   Which they'd never really had much of a chance to be to begin with, though that was mostly her fault.  Yes, there might have been a couple of tears on the way home, but after a good night's sleep, she was able to look at things with a clear head.   Charlie would never have been the kind of man she needed.  Maybe he'd have suited the person she'd been a few years ago, or even a few years from now, but when someone saw you at your most vulnerable and got scared off, there wasn't much hope for the relationship, was there?   In any case, her gut instinct had been right months ago.  She'd just needed that final meeting to clear her conscience and close that door permanently.  By letting go, she felt lighter.

So, obviously, it was far too soon to jump into another relationship, wasn't it?
Except-she  already had, unless she had mucked it up already.

Another thing that was becoming clearer each day was that her growing feelings for Dean stood on their own merit.  She thought about him far more than she ought to.  And not in an 'if Charlie only knew' kind of way, either.  It had never even occurred to her to throw out the fact that she had already begun moving on to Charlie, had it? And anyway, if snogging Dean had merely been a convienient way to salve her wounded ego, then her unexpected 'date' last Monday ought to have had a similar effect on her, right?

And, oh, Lord, if he heard about that, too, he might really be thinking you’re just stringing him along.

Which could be why you haven’t heard from him for nearly two weeks.

Or it could be that you’re just overthinking things.

Or he could have gone out drinking with Seamus and met someone new.

Someone who isn’t completely muddled in the head.

Oh, sod it all, she though, marching out the door before she could lose her nerve.

I’m just going for a walk.

Fifteen minutes later she found herself approaching Hammerside.
