Cormac came awake slowly, burying his face in the pillow and groaning. "Dun wanna git up. On holiday," he mumbled, nearly purring as hands stroked his hair and back. "Better idea. Come back to bed." He forced one eye open and smiled at Romilda, rolling over on his back so he could see his lovers. "Too early."

As their words penetrated he jumped from the bed, careful not to jostle Romilda, worry starting to creep in. "What's wrong? Is it Liam? Is he sick? Does he need a Healer? Is it the baby? Are you hurt?" He finally realized they didn't look panicked, and had said 'surprise' not 'major catastrophe'. He took a breath and forced himself to calm down.

"A surprise?" he asked, more calmly.

Romilda couldn't help but smile as she watched Cormac slowly wake. He had presence enough of mind to know it was still a holiday, but then he did wake quickly when he worried something might be wrong. That was what she loved about him. So caring and always looking out for everyone.

"Shhh," she said with her face now in a smirk, her hand grasping his and putting it to her belly, next to Colin's. "Feel that," she said quietly, still waiting for the look on his face when he realised what it was.

At the touch of Cormac's hand to her belly, she felt the ticking tickle suddenly change, and something more akin to a kick was felt as it landed directly under Cormac's hand. She let out a giggle. Better to kick her there than directly in the kidneys, she thought.

Cormac was a little confused when Romilda grabbed his hand and placed it on her stomach, next to Colin's. "What..." he trailed off as a firm something pressed against his hand and yelped as it came again, harder this time.

"What the hell?" he asked, not taking his hand away, but looking up at Romilda in concern. "Are you okay? Is the baby sick? Do you need to go to a Healer? Dear Merlin, is the baby coming now? Isn't it too early?" He felt a rising panic in his stomach as the pressure came again, and he sank down on the bed, his knees weak. "I can't breathe." He gasped for breath and lowered his head between his knees.

Romilda had to suppress the laughter that was welling up inside at Cormac's reactions. Truly endearing. Colin's was one of wide eyed wonder, and Cormac's was one of deep and overwhelming concern for her and the baby, before realising that it was all just a little too much for him.

"Yes, you can breathe," she said, "It's perfectly normal and absolutely nothing is wrong."

Interlacing their fingers with her own, the baby decided to give a couple more hearty kicks and then started to settle down. "I think bubby just wanted to say hello to her daddies. She'll start to kick more and more now," she added, giving Cormac no-nonsense information about what to expect.

"I mean, wouldn't you feel cramped if you had to curl up into such a small and cramped space for such a very long time?"

"But it's real," she added in a whisper. "Baby is really there, truly!"

Cormac let Romilda's soothing voice and touch wash over him, and felt his heart rate slowly return to normal. Everything was fine, he repeated in his head several times.

"The baby's moving?" he asked in awe, this time pressing his fingers lightly back against the pressure. "That's...amazing." He was whispering, not wanting to disturb Baby if it needed rest. "Wait, you called the baby a she. Are we having a girl?" He imagined a tiny baby girl, looking up at him and needing him to protect her, and felt his stomach flip. "She's never dating. Not even when she's thirty." He'd hex any boy who tried to hurt her. Kill them if he needed to.

Some women resented anyone touching their pregnant bellies. Romilda would have glared if it were a complete stranger, but it felt right to have Cormac and Colin there to feel the baby.

She needed to let Liam feel the baby kicking too, at some point. Make it all the more real for him too. She had convinced herself she was having a little girl when she realised just how different this pregnancy felt from Liam, and when she'd overheard a very loud and seemingly know-it-all American woman at Disney world who spoke of how girl babies sat differently, and with more morning sickness.

She giggled at Cormac's question. "Well I think it's a girl. She just feels... different. That woman at Disneyworld was right - I think she's sitting lower that Liam ever did, and I did have all that horrible morning sickness ( ... )

Cormac nodded, committing all that to memory. It was good that at least one of them had an idea of what they were doing, otherwise it would all be hopeless.

"We need a list," Cormac said suddenly. "We need a crib and a pram and sheets and dresser. And clothes. A baby needs clothes. And diapers, and food..." he trailed off as he saw Colin and Romilda looking at him in indulged amusement and flushed. "There's a lot we need," he defended himself.

He nodded though, when Romilda mentioned cleaning out and paining the spare room. It would give him something concrete to do. "I'll start today. Liam can help me paint," he said decisively. But that reminded him. "Where do we get paint, and what color do we want, or is it something we can Charm? Maybe Terry knows a spell. But maybe Muggle paint would be safer? His charms have a tendency to explode, don't they?"

She squeezed both their hands, taking them away now that the baby had settled for a bit.

"What we need first is breakfast, then groceries, then a baby list," she said, having already had this panic once already this morning. She saw the look Colin gave her, and dared him to make fun of her about it.

"Then you boys can clean out the spare room, and then we can go and choose a colour. How does that sound?"

Colin grinned as Cormac started making a list of everything they would need; he may jump to conclusions every now and then but you could always count on Cormac to be there when you needed him. He couldn't help but chuckle though.

"That sounds like a very good idea, love." He kissed Romilda on the cheek before he leaned over kissing Cormac soundly.

"Breakfast first, then groceries, then a baby list, and no freaking out about any of this - you both understand." He smirked at Romilda, teasing them both.

"Yes Daddy," Romilda smirked as Colin gave them a stern teasing about not freaking out. She knew it was just the hormones making her worry more than normal, but Colin could soothe them both out of any flap.

Getting up out of the bed, she realised it was soon going to be hard to get up. "Although I did forget to tell you boys that the last third of my pregnancy with Liam, I had trouble getting out of bed. I had back aches, I was grumpy..."

"So you might have to handle this nursery on your own by then."

"But come on, breakfast is almost ready. Got to keep you fed well if you're going to clear out the other bedroom." She handed a pair of boxers and a t shirt to Cormac as they made ready to get up. They could do this. After all, there was three of them.
