RP: Finally, a bit of good news

Summary: At last, Remus receives a bit of good news. And on Gilen's birthday, no less.

Remus rolled over in bed, cuddling against -- air. He sighed, sliding over to Severus's side which was already fairly cold. He knew the man had left in the early morning, departing for Susan's. It wasn't as if Severus had skulked off into the dawn, but he had been re-awakened in time to say good-bye. Falling back asleep, Remus may have only slept for another hour or so. He was finding it more and more difficult to sleep without a body beside him.
He was still livid from the night before, but as always, Severus had managed to calm him down. Slightly.
Honestly, he still didn't know. It went against everything he believed in. It was the one thing he had sworn he'd never do.
Sighing, Remus buried his nose in Severus' pillow, taking in the scent of his lover and letting that calm him momentarily. His reverie was short lived, however, as the tapping at his window brought him from his calm. Moving from bed, Remus grabbed a dressing gown from off a bedpost and after fastening it around his waist, went to retrieve the unfamiliar owl. It soared off as soon as its message had been delivered and at last -- Remus had a bit of good news.
Herr Lupin,
Everything has been filed and the attached documents officially confirm you and Ms. Nymphadora Tonks as the legal guardians of Gilen Krause. As per your request, the application for a change of name has been filed on your request. All enclosed documents are for the newly named Gilen Lupin.
It was a pleasure working with you and we here wish you, Nymphadora and Gilen the best of luck.

Remus poured through the attached documents, seeing that everything was in order as they had discussed. For the application to go through, Dora had been listed as a female figure for god forbid a bisexual werewolf currently sleeping with a man adopt a child for who knew what bad influences that would be on a child. Remus rolled his eyes.
The news, though, couldn't have come at a better time. It pushed (though slightly) the Bill issue from his mind. Remus padded down the hall to Gilen's room, waking the boy with a kiss to his forehead.
"Das...?" Gilen asked sleepily, rubbing his eyes and yawning.
"Happy birthday, Gilen," Remus said softly, his fingers threading through his son's hair. "It's finally here. Everything is official and you're staying for good."
Even half-asleep, Gilen's face broke out into a grin as he threw his arms around Remus' waist, nearly knocking him over. Remus held tight to the boy. One of the few good things in his life right now.
"So I now Gilen-- Lupin?" Gilen asked curiously, tilting his head up to look at Remus.
"Yes, Gilen," Remus said, holding tight to the boy.
Gilen leaned his head against Remus' waist, not wanting to let go. "Das ist the best birthday."
And Remus didn't even have the heart to correct his English.
