Dennis was exhausted, and.... he didn't know what else.  Just he couldn't sleep.   So he decided to make himself some Valerain Tea.   Sipping at the table, he remembered it was Gertie's cure for sleeplessness, which jogged his memory.

Friday, he'd gone to Exter and checked his mail there.  And there had been a package from Gertie, but between work, and lunch with Wayne, meeting with Roger and work again, he hadn't taken time to open it.  Finding a kitchen knife, he slit the tape open and removed the letter inside from it's envelope.

Dennis:

I found what you were looking for.  Some people will throw away anything when they get divorced.  This should tide your youngster over for a few birthdays and holidays.  I paid $50.00 for the entire lot.   Don't hurry, I know you're good for it.

I'm working as an Extra the next couple of days.  Some cable outfit is filming a Western and I look weathered enough to pass as one of the townsfolk.   But it's fun to be back on a set.

Haven't heard much of anything, except one of the tourists that come to see the Vortex mentioned that she'd been to Yellowstone in the winter and it was worth the trip.  If you still want to go, I'll wait till you're ready to ride shotgun.  Or if you ever want to hang around the desert again, you can always flop here.

How's that brother of your's doing?  Make sure he takes care of you.

Gertie.

He was only half paying attention as he started to remove newspaper, bubble wrap and packing pellets.  Haven't heard much on anything....Gertie speak for she hadn't heard from his parents either.,,, And then, well Liam would love this, if he liked 'Star Wars'!   Underneath all the wrappings was a Millenium Falcon, and figures of Han, Lea, and Luke.  There was also an X-wing.    He decided he'd give Liam the Falcon and Han, and save the rest for Christmas.

He sat back down, planning on sending the note in the morning.  Still nursing his tea, he realized what had been bothering him.  He missed Gertie.

They hadn't been the best matchup at first; she was used to living on her own, and he and Colin had never been sure how to take her when she visited as they were growing up.  But....  Dennis had come to like and respect her.  They were very different and yet, in some ways very alike.  They were both on their way to figuring out who they were.  From Gertie, he'd learned that was a lifelong task.   And he felt bad for leaving her.  She'd gone from living alone, to having a roommate, to living alone again.  Reading between the lines, he suspected she missed him as well.  He would write to her as well as Colin in the morning, he thought as the tea did it's work and he headed for bed.

Poking his head out several hours later to wan daylight, he stumbled around for paper and wrote a note to Colin.  No sense writing to Gertie till he had an answer.

Colin:

Guess what?  Your house will soon the space garage for the Millenium Falcon.   Yep, I have a Falcon and a Han Solo figurine for Liam.  Unless you've already got him something like that.  Gertie found them for me.

Speaking of Gertie....Are Muggles allowed to visit? She does know about us.  I had to tell her, especially since... well I just had to.  She's okay with it, and I'd like to see her again.
