When Roger woke, it took him a few moments to get his bearings. The hotel was nice, but it was always a jolt to wake in an unfamiliar place. Even after years of doing so nearly every morning. He'd also gotten used to waking up in the same place, at home, for months. So it was something of a jolt.

Besides, the room was pink.

And the shower was running, he noted as he focused his ears. That had probably been what had woken him. He glanced up at the clock on the wall and yawned. Apparently, Hermione was showering at four in the morning. He focused on the light under the bathroom door as he stretched a bit. Before he'd fallen asleep last night, that door had been open, and he'd been able to see through to Hermione's room. To her bed, if he switched positions and slept at the foot of his own.

Yesterday had gone faster than he'd expected. They'd arrived by portkey straight to the offices of Deziana Publishing and launched into the meeting. Once that had been over, there'd been a long taxi ride to the hotel, and they hadn't had a lot of time to get settled and rest before heading off to dinner with the Deziana family. Well, that wasn't exactly true. There'd not been much time mainly because they'd chosen to use it snogging urgently against the doorjamb of her bedroom, and then walking on the beach.

They'd needed a walk, or at least he had, before dinner. He'd been tense and extremely worked up, and likely not good company to anyone else. But taking the time to enjoy a small part of the city, listen to the water, and talk to Hermione had been relaxing. He smiled slightly as he listened to the shower. It was strange; Hermione could get him aroused and frustrated without even trying, but she was also the only person in his life who could totally calm him down. It was easy around her, and he could relax in a way he couldn't with anyone else, whether by holding her or talking with her or just being with her.

Even at dinner, when he'd look across the table and find her smiling shyly at him after one of Santiago's more colorful jokes. He smiled at the thought, and tried to focus on that rather than the fact that she was naked and wet on the other side of a thin wooden door. Tried to think about that rather than strain his ears to try and hear her movements or entertain fantasies of cracking open the door to watch her before slipping inside to join her. It really wouldn't do to think about that right now. Of course, now that his brain was slowly focusing it was hard not to. He thought about the rest of their evening instead.

After they'd eaten, they'd walked and talked some more, and by the time they'd got back to the hotel, after traveling rather far by portkey and then a long day, they'd both been tired, and gone to bed in their separate rooms to lie down. They'd left the doors to their shared bathroom open, though, and he wasn't sure how long they lay awake and talked to each other in the dark, across the bathroom, before they'd both drifted to sleep.

He sat up as the water ran, and looked at the door blearily for  a few moments before he pulled off the covers and searched around for his shirt. He didn't want to go back to sleep, despite the early hour. Hermione was awake and wet, after all, even if he couldn't see her yet, and he couldn't just sleep with that knowledge.  Besides, he wanted an early start so they could see as much of the city as possible. They'd not made plans or anything; this was just going to be a day of exploring in a new place where they didn't know the language. It would be an adventure like the ones they had often, and he couldn't wait to get started.

He stood and stretched, scratching his bare stomach before scrubbing a hand over his head as he walked over to where his bag sat in the armchair.
