It would be nice to have her house to herself again, most of the time )
He nodded. "I think if she came by on Monday and Friday mornings it would work. The local market is still a bit lean. I've been supplementing in Exeter and Tregaron as needed, but once school begins, I'll have to shop on Saturdays. I'm thinking you could tell Cai on Fridays what you need, or if you'd like to accompany me, then Saturday I can shop. Cai can bring your groceries on Monday if you don't join me."
"I plan to keep her busy on the claim, so she'll be too busy to bother you too much. And please tell me if she shows signs of getting out of hand. I love her to pieces, but she's definitely got a mind of her own."

She nodded when Caradoc explained his plans about shopping. "That would be quite acceptable."
"Speaking of sponge cake," she said, "you look about done with your meal. Are you ready for pudding? I decided not to make sponge cake this time. Don't want to be too predictable, you know." She gave him another wink. Had she thought of him as a surrogate son, she'd not be winking, but a surrogate nephew was another matter. "I made an apple tort. I hope you like it."

Caradoc considered something he had thought of earlier to ask her. "Arabella, what do you think about visiting America? My family is having a large party the last weekend of April. It's a combination anniversaries, birthdays, Mother's Day celebration for all the events occurring in April and May. It's a family tradition, and as my new surrogate aunt, you would be very welcome if you'd like to join Cai and I for the journey."

He smiled, "not just any portkey either, Arabella. It's an Albus Dumbledore portkey he made for me to be able to move the kids. The trip across was incredibly smooth. It will take us back and forth between my home in Tregaron to the school in New Orleans. We'll apparate from the school to my nephew's home outside New Orleans. If you'd like to do a little sight seeing in New Orleans itself, there's time for that too."

"Oh, an Albus special," she said with a smile. "That sounds lovely. I don't know a thing about that city. This would be quite an adventure." A frown suddenly crossed her face. "We won't have to use a taxicab while we're there, will we? Because taxicabs frighten me. Rather irrational, I'm afraid, but there you have it. And large crowds. As long as there aren't any large crowds about, I'll probably be fine." She paused, looking at him. "Goodness, you'll think I really am a crazy old woman now."

She listened carefully as he talked about the size of any crowds they might encounter. "Oh, one or two hundred people isn't scary. It's thousands of people all together that make me nervous. You know, the sort of crowd one might see at a football game. I suppose I'm skittish about large crowds because of an incident at Reading football stadium years ago. You know how rowdy British football fans can be. There was a bit of a row and I happened to be caught on the edge of the fray." She shuddered, wishing she'd not dredged up that particular memory, then took a deep breath and forged on. "Well, all in the past, dearie. I don't know about trolley cars but if it's not like a taxicab I'm sure I'll be fine ( ... )
