Things were moving along. It surprised Roger every day. If someone had asked him what he'd end up doing with himself when he'd first moved to Stoatshead, it was a pretty safe bet he'd not have said that he would become a reasonably successful carpenter - considering - who was about to strike out into his own business. Surprising as it was, he was glad things had turned out this way.
By the end of the month, he figured he'd be moving into his own premises, the workshop he'd been fixing up since February. As he got closer and closer to being ready for the move, Roger figured he'd be nervous. But really, he'd been handling his own projects for months, and had even hired three employees, so all that was left was actually moving, really.
Tonight, he was meeting up with Viktor to discuss one of the possible offshoots of his business. It had been Hermione's idea, really -- the premise of making toys out of wood. He liked the idea, as he'd found he enjoyed making just about anything from wood. And toys see,ed like something small that he could also learn to build. He'd been surprised when Viktor offered to help out, but definitely pleased. The other man had some knowledge, as he'd done some work on the toys that had been left behind in his own house. It was more expertise than Roger had so he was happy for the help.
It was good to get out and socialise a bit, too. It was something he should - probably - get used to. And Viktor was a decent bloke. He was easy to talk to and they had some things in common. Obviously not the kid thing, but they'd both been Quidditch pros, and neither of them played anymore.
The biggest thing they had in common, of course, was Hermione. She was important to them both, in different ways. He respected Viktor for being someone Hermione trusted and could be easy around, and who was protective of her. In the relatively short time he'd known her, she'd become the most important thing in his life, and he wanted to be all those things to her, and a lot more.
Pushing into the pub, Roger looked around for Viktor, but he was a bit early and so didn't see him yet. He took a table and ordered a Guinness while he waited.
