There were some answers and still far too many questions, but the work had begun to balance into its more normal run. While this idea of 'normal' was itself far from solid, current operations gave a little more time to consider and to act on other matters.

Gawain had been in the process of rearranging schedules and assignments to fit current needs. Several Aurors remained assigned to work involving the most recent offenders, along with several other specific investigations. There were the Death Eaters to follow, patrols that would best be given greater attention; if individuals weren't go to be terribly careful, the Aurors must raise their guard. They could acceptably afford only so many surprises, and even one or two seemed unfortunate.

These and still further, and the Aurors had in general been receptive to their changes of schedule. Several had nearly returned to their pre-power outage schedules, while others had found themselves in quite a different situation. And now there was the matter of the hospital guard. They couldn't direct quite so much effort in that direction any longer, not if they were to patrol the rest of the town and carry out other investigations. The hospital would be included in rounds of patrol, certainly, and would be a prime location to guard; a shift in the manner of its handling was necessary, however.

It was high time that he spoke with Mr. Macmillan, about his assignment and perhaps other matters. Gawain had intended to speak with the young man earlier, but first the events around the destruction and then a marked scarcity on the young man's part had rather curtailed any efforts. Now that he had the time, however, he would find the young man. Gawain could only hope that he would catch Ernie in the offices--indeed, schedules indicated that the he should be in, if only briefly--and intended to find him before the boy could slip away.

Resolved on this point, Gawain left his own office and was rather glad to find the boy's own area occupied. "Mr. Macmillan, may I have a word?" His tone indicated an intention of something beyond 'a word,' and he fully intended to speak as was necessary.
