It had been a long day.

Katie had started out at the cinema at daybreak. It had been a different kind of work than she'd been used to over the past few weeks. Stripping, painting, building - it had been a lot of work, and she had gone home tired at the end of the day more than once. But what it hadn't been was intellectually challenging. This was it's own kind of work, and it's own kind of frustration. At least when she'd had a paintbrush, or a hammer, she could see the result of her work instantaneously. Something had been accomplished every single time she went to work.

Trying to circumvent the need for muggle power for muggle appliances was a whole different story. She'd started with the projector first when she'd got there - and had been able to get it working within an hour. It was simple - a modification of the charm that had always been used on record players to get them working. It had taken only a few tries before Spiderman (which she'd had in there in expectation of the opening) was playing on the screen.

That had lulled her into a false sense of accomplishment - that it would be easy. That she could do it. Oh, she hadn't expected to still go ahead with the opening that night - even if she'd got it all working - the mood around town was far from right for an bloody cinema to open, but she'd been expecting to be out of there by noon and on her way home.

She had left by two, but no farther along than she had been at nine. Trying to charm the popcorn maker had been a joke. More than once she had been tempted to snap her wand in half out of frustration. Katie was used to actually being able to get the job (whatever job) done, and failing in getting it working was grating on her nerves. She didn't have the patience to stay there hour after hour, failing in attempt after attempt, and get nothing done. By the middle of the afternoon she'd packed up her stuff and left - determined to work off some steam before coming back the next day.

Itching for something to do she'd wandered down to River Road. It had seemed presumptuous, just jumping in, but the family whom she'd helped repair their broken windows had been grateful enough to make her feel guilty when helping had been for her own peace of mind. It wasn't like it was hard to lend a hand - she'd had enough experience with basic repair those first few months. A few more small things, that meant little in the long run, but made her feel like she was actually helping, and accomplishing something, and she'd still been raring to go. She'd contemplated going back to the cinema, experimenting until she couldn't stand it anymore, but decided against it.

Hesitating, instead of heading for the bridge that would take her to Copper Towers, Katie turned instead back into the main area of town, angling towards the museum. Truth be told, she didn't feel like simply heading home and sitting alone in her little flat lit by the candles she'd brought out. It wasn't that it was dark and dingy - it wasn't much different from the overhead muggle lights - and she'd existed this way for nearly all her life before coming to Stoatshead. It was just sometimes a bit solitary.

It might be assuming a lot, but she thought she'd drop by the museum and see if Cedric was there - after all he seemed to be often. Maybe get a bite to eat, or just stop by quickly to say hi, either way she was hoping he was there.

Katie let herself into the building - she knew she was able to because he'd added her to the wards, that anyone else would be met with a nasty surprise, but the ease with which she could do it made her momentarily nervous about the criminals from the other night wandering in on him.

"Cedric, you here?" She called out loudly, her voice bouncing around in the large building. "It's Katie."
