If there was one thing to be said about Severus Snape, it was that he could not be easily distracted. If there was another, it was that he kept his word no matter what other people might perceive. And so, while one Remus Lupin had definitely been been taking up Severus' thoughts this past week, they had not deterred him from any of his tasks. Susan had been acting a bit strange, trying to do more than her usual share of work, so Severus had been just as determinedly stealing back his chores from her. He was also hard at work on a new wolfsbane derivative for Bill Weasley. He'd added dittany to this batch, and used exactly three fifths the usual amount of aconite, though he'd increased the hellebore. There were several other minor differences, and Snape had waited until well after the full moon before owling Weasley about testing it. He needed to see what side effects, if any, there were before applying it to a man with moon-induced frenzy.
And so he stood in the library after dark once more, an array of instruments and phials before him, along with his quill and notebook. He had educated assumptions about what this batch would do, but he was most interested to see it applied to Weasley.
