After he’d sent Hermione an owl that morning, Blaise had decided that he needed to get out. He couldn’t stay at home any longer. Not with that memory sitting there taunting him. And he certainly wasn’t ready to address the pile of letters sitting on his desk at least two of which were from his mother and another looked to be a letter forwarded from Luc’s solicitor. Blaise had even less inclination to open that one than he did his mother’s.

He was avoiding things. He knew that. Knew that any psychologist would tell him what he was doing wouldn’t help him one bit. He’d read enough books on the subject to guess that. But talking wasn’t Blaise’s way. Never had been. He’d done enough talking in his opinion with Terry. Would likely end up doing more when he next saw Hermione, and she managed to coax more than he would usually be comfortable with out of his mouth with just a smile. So he thought he was due a little bit of avoidance.

He’d headed to the library and started sorting out the furniture into groups of what was unsalvageable, what could be donated and what the library might be able to reuse. By the time Blaise had finally allowed himself the opportunity to sit down and grab a bite to eat it was dusk. He couldn’t quite face going home yet though. The house would still be empty and his mind would only end up turning back to his mother without Terry there to distract him. He knew without even trying that he wouldn’t sleep. So perhaps he could just work a bit longer. If he exhausted himself enough then maybe he’s at least find an hour or two’s rest later.

Blaise sat down where the counter had once been and poured himself a coffee. There was plenty for him still to do at the library after all. Perhaps he’d start with a list. He still needed to find a builder to fix the structural damage. He pulled out his notepad and quill and started heading up the parchment.
