It was a lovely night and Angelina was enjoying walking outside. The stars were out and the moon was shining brightly. Angelina squeezed the loose sand in her toes and threw her shoes to the ground.
"How about here?" she asked.
"Perfect," replied Zaan, as he set down a basket and took out a flannel blanket to spread on the sand. Zaan smoothed the blanket and pulled out a pillow and extra blanket in case they got cold.
"It's a beautiful night," he said as he kicked off his sandals and sat down on the blanket.
"Mmmhmm," Angelina replied, sitting down just in front of Zaan and leaning back into him. "It's perfect."
They sat like that, not talking for a long period of time, perhaps a half hour, perhaps an hour, in perfect silence, listening to the waves crash and watching the sky change from pink and orange to violet to an inky indigo blue to pitch black. After a while, Zaan wordlessly reached into the basket and pulled out two glasses, a bottle of champagne, some fruit, and a box of chocolate truffles.
He kissed Angelina on the neck to get her to move so he could pop the top on the champagne. He poured two glasses and handed one to Angelina. "To a year and more," he said simply, and they drank each a sip from their glasses.
Before she knew it, Angelina was lying on the blanket, Zaan leaning over her, holding her in his arms, and kissing her deeply, gently. He tickled her tongue with his, wetting her lips with his, letting out a soft, low moan.

The sun was coming up and Zaan was nowhere to be found. Angelina was cold and alone on the blanket. And an owl came to her. It was a
Boreal owl and extremely out of place for multiple reasons. These owls were never seen in Australia. They came from the exact opposite part of the world, not to mention that the note it dropped her was from Zaan, who was a Muggle.
The note said:
Dear Ang,
I'm coming to see you. It's been far too long and I miss you.
Zaan
Angelina woke with a start, sitting up straight in bed. She was at home in her flat in Stoatshead Hill. She was sweating profusely, but was shivering. It was still dark out and the room was pitch black. She looked around, half-expecting someone else to be there.
There was not a soul in sight, but there was the silhouette of an owl at the window. It was the same one as in her dream.
It was no coincidence; the owl was holding a letter. She let the owl in and pulled on a sweatshirt over her pajamas. She took the letter and climbed back into bed.
"Make yourself at home. I'm guessing you had a long journey, huh?"
The owl cooed and flew directly into the kitchen.
Angelina opened the envelope and read:
Dear Ang,
I'm coming to visit you. It's been far too long and I miss you.
Zaan
P.S. I realize I'm no wizard, but I was able to find a place where I could pay for an owl... one of your old teammates took me to the owlery downtown. And no, I won't be flying by broomstick like the famous Angelina Johnson, but I'll still be flying. And you know how I hate flying! See you soon! (I'll be there on the 8th of March. I should be arriving by train in Exeter around noon.)
Angelina didn't quite know what to think except that she knew she wouldn't be able to sleep anymore that morning and probably not at all that night. She felt as if a bowling ball had just fallen into her stomach and butterflies had taken up residency in the bowling ball. She had a metallic taste in her mouth. Behind her tongue, her mouth started to water.
Angelina had just enough time to make it to the toilet before the entire contents of her stomach emptied themselves from her body into the bowl.
It's going to be a long day, she thought.
