Ernie made sure that he did not get held up at work today. He may have even left a bit earlier than usual. Shower, shave, standing in his boxers in front of his closet trying to decide what to wear. Finally, as it was 6:20, he pulled on a long sleeved black button-down shirt that he found in the back of the closet, a clean pair of denims, socks and boots. Apparently Ernie liked the dress. Eleanor felt slightly giddy, and giggled at his reaction. “Thank you, Ernie. You look very nice yourself. Would you like to come in? We don’t have to be there until seven, and I need to dig my jacket out of the closet.”

Actions speak louder than words. For once, the little voice was helpful. He pulled her a bit closer and kissed her gently.

She couldn’t remember anyone but her parents ever having told her that before. Pretty yes, but not beautiful. She tried to say something, but her voice and her brain didn’t seem to want to work together at the moment.

She dropped the jacket on the floor to wrap her arms around his neck when he kissed her. It was more exciting than the first two times they had kissed, and she found herself half tempted to take him to her room and show him what she had bought to wear underneath the dress. That thought scared the hell out of her. She really didn’t know why Ernie caused these kinds of reactions in her. She hadn't actually thought of sex as ( ... )
