As he stood in front of his mirror in trousers and tucked-in shirt, Roger did up his tie. Then undid it, then tied it again.

"I'm glad Harry's doing well. He seems to be enjoying it," she told him. "He was exhausted on Monday, but we adopted a puppy and that seemed to give him a bit of enthusiasm."

She listened to him and asked, "What sort of plan do you have in mind for setting up the business? Did you choose the location and speak with Jack yet? How much are you going to have to have as start-up capital? You should look into falsifying paperwork to get discounts with a Muggle supplier." She smiled wryly. "I don't mean lie, but if you can fill out an application for a DIY Muggle shop to get a discount for business owners, well, it's an option. I don't normally condone falsifying paperwork, but it wouldn't be lying."

He stopped walking, and she turned to face him. His grin was mischievous, which made her arch her brow and look at him with playful suspicion. "You can trust me," she said. "It might be tempting to sneak a look, but I'll be good, I suppose."

"Yeah, he likes it, I think. I mean, he cursed a fair bit, of course. But so did I, just starting out. Still do sometimes," he said sheepishly. "But yeah. It's good. You all got a puppy? That should make him happy. Puts things into perspective when you have someone depending on you like that. I've been meaning to visit the shelter, myself; I've always wanted a dog ( ... )

"You'd like a dog?" She smiled. "I think we can find one who likes you well enough to adopt you. Just let me know when you'd like to look, and we can go look ( ... )

"That'd be great," he said, grinning. "Maybe next week we can go to the shelter and one of them can pick me out ( ... )

"You might not think it's hard, but I'd totally bollocks it up," she confessed. "If I had written instructions, I could probably manage a passable one, but my talents don't really lie in creative pursuits unless it's more mentally creative. Of course, that gives me reason to admire those who can do such things, even if I am occasionally envious ( ... )

"I didn't think I'd be able to do it at first," he said honestly. "Especially since we really don't do many furniture jobs. But I figured if I could build a decent countertop or display cabinet, I could do this ( ... )

"I was on my own at the shop today," she reminded him, blushing faintly. "While I could easily have had Ron or Lee watch the shop, I was busy making notes on inventory and managed to work through lunch. And, yes, I'll eat all the linguini and you'll have none unless I decide to share." She smiled and tucked her hair behind her ear as she leaned forward to grab a breadstick ( ... )

He laughed at that. "I see how it is," he said, eyes dancing. "You're all sweet, and lovely until the food's out. And then you cast me aside, eh? That's alright. I can convince you to share." She tucked her hair behind her ear and on impulse, he reached over and tucked it back on the other side before sitting back down, then shrugged. "I find myself wanting to do that a lot," he murmured.

"Well, then I hope that means you'll be joining me out there for some outdoor meals. I should be able to handle the food by then. You'll have to help me with the flowers, though." He looked up at her and smiled faintly. "No, I know; I believe you. Thanks. Your eyes never lie, Hermione," he added softly. "At least, not to me."

"Yes, I do," he stated, "and I'm glad that you're having a good time. And romance can be silly, I suppose, but there's a time and place for it. I know that you're a practical woman, Hermione. I think that's why it's fun to romance you," he said honestly. He began to eat, focusing on not dripping red sauce onto his shirt while ( ... )

Hermione snorted. "I can list many people who would oppose the opinion of 'sweet and lovely', Roger," she informed him firmly. "I just have you fooled, I suppose, or maybe you just see something many don't." She considered that thought until he reached over and tucked her hair behind her ear, his fingers brushing against her cheek as he pulled back. She blinked at him and licked her lips before she looked down at her food ( ... )

"You know what I think?" Roger asked, quirking a brow. "I think you rather fancy the idea of being all tough-as-nails. But you've a very sweet side, Hermione. You've shown it enough to me and so I know this to be true-- and don't argue," he said lightly with a small smile ( ... )
