Terry's flat was depressing. Very, very depressing. The former occupants had taken everything but a rickety old table, two folding chairs, an ancient microwave, some moldy cheese and a squahy, ill-shaped Thing that Terry supposed one was to sit on, but it didn't look very comfortable. When Ben had seen the Thing, as Terry had taken to calling it, earlier that day, he'd been quite frightened of it, to tell the truth, though Bob the Dog had found it comfortable enough to nap on all afternoon.
He seriously needed to do some shopping, and stop using cushioning charms on the floor to sleep. But, he had no decorating sense and was more than likely to end up with shag carpeting and beige divans than anything that would look moderately decent in the space, which was large and had lots of natural light, and seemed to cry out for pieces of furniture and art with style, which Terry had none of.
Not for the first time, he wished for Padma, and her innate sense of style. But Padma was in the Americas, and he hadn't talked to her in...Merlin, had it really been nearly eight years? He wondered if she would come back to London now that the war was over. He'd have to Owl her sometime soon.
He look one last look around his dismal, empty flat. Ben and Bob had gone home earlier, as Megan had plans for them, which was fine with Terry, as Megan was a much better parent than he was, and Ben was better off with her for the majority of time.
But, he couldn't stay in the flat with nothing to do, as he'd finally decided not to house his lab in his flat, afraid to scare the neighbors with the explosions that were bound to happen. So, he was off to Socks for dinner, and hopefully some company.
Somehow though, he took a series of wrong turns and ended up down by 3rd and Beta, which was really no place near Socks, but then, Terry had proved time and again that he was rotten with direction.
However, the day was looking up, as he spied Professor Vector in the small garden outside the apartment building, with what looked like a very small kitten.
"Professor!" he called and waved, picking up his pace. "Hello!"
