Luna had been as busy as usual, and once again, not many other mediwitches seemed to be around. She walked to the waiting area, past Lyda's desk. The older woman looked frazzled as she looked up and gestured toward the patients still waiting. Luna lookedout at them and sighed inwardly. Typical Saturday
( ... )
Su heard voices at the receptionist's desk, and looked up. Was that...Luna Lovegood? Luna came over to speak to Su. She said goodbye to Gilderoy, and focused on the Mediwitch.
"Hello, Luna. I remember you from Hogwarts, actually. I'm Su Li, I was in Ravenclaw as well, a year ahead of you. And yes, I took a nasty spill the other day."
Su stood up, with the help of her umbrella-cane, smiling at Luna's comment about her shoes. "Thank you. I usually wear high heels, but that didn't really work with the ankle and all."
She smiled. They'd not talked very much in school, but Luna definitely remembered her; they'd not been far apart. "Yes, I remember you, now. How have you been, Su? I've not seen you around town; I didn't know you were here. But then, I'm mostly here," she said lightly, "so perhaps that's not surprising."
Frowning, she took a closer look at Su's ankle. "I must say, you should ahve come in sooner," she murmured. "I think we should go to an exam room; I'd like to take a better look. It likely looks worse than it is. Are you alright to stand and walk?" Luna offered a hand. "I'm stronger than I look, if you need a shoulder."
"High heels? No, I don't think they'd have been comfortable at all. I don't wear them much. They're not exactly a smart choice for my line of work," she said seriously. "High heels can be very sprain-inducing, you know."
Su smiled back at Luna. She had liked the girl in school, despite the fact that they'd not known one another well. Su enjoyed quirky, although she'd never been able to pull it off herself. "I've been well. I'm only recently back in England. My parents took me to Shanghai after my sixth year, and I spent the duration of the war there. I'm glad to be back."
Su blushed. She knew she should have come in yesterday. "Yes, I know. I kept it elevated and iced, hoping that would make it better, but clearly not. I brought a cane, so I should be okay for a short distance."
"I'm afraid I never got used to being this short. I am accustomed to wearing heels, so I find them comfortable. They can indeed be sprain-inducing, though. Especially when you catch them in the sidewalk and go flying. Not one of my prouder moments." Su followed Luna into the room and sat on the exam table, rolling up her trouser leg and removing her slipper so Luna could better work.
"Well, elevating and icing it can help," she conceded. "But this is a little more than a sprain. You've twisted it a bit, as well, it seems. It must be awfully painful." Luna nodded when Su indicated her cane, which she'd not seen before now, then gestured for Su to follow her into one of the exam areas.
"Yes, I suppose things become comfortable once you get used to them. I'm worried about the time before it becomes comfortable. I'm not at all sure I could stick it out until I got used to it." She smiled. They got into the room and Luna indicated that Su get up onto the table.
When she did, then rolled up her trouser leg and removed her slipper without Luna having to ask. "Thank you," she said, pulling up a stool and taking a seat. "Oh, so you did get the sprain in your heels? They must have been very high heels indeed. I do hope you weren't too embarrrassed

"It has been rather painful," Su admitted. "I came in today because I couldn't sleep last night." Su listened, interested, as Luna explained her injury. "Did I really? Clearly you're the expert; I didn't even know there was a difference
( ... )
Luna laughed at Su's exaggeration. "Well, you aren't exactly that short," she pointed out teasingly. "Thank you for the compliment. I don't get many of those. I suppose it's nice, though I've always wondered what it would be like to be more petite and ladylike the way you are. I'm tall and skinny, and sometimes I feel a bit gangly, even though I'm not as tall as many
( ... )
"No, I suppose not, but it does feel that way at times. I've wondered what it would be like to be tall." Su giggled, a sudden thought. "Maybe one day we should Polyjuice each other, find out what it's like!" She assumed Luna would know that she was joking; the woman had always been perceptive. "And you're welcome, although I don't know why you wouldn't get compliments
( ... )
"I thought I recognised Mr. Lockhart sitting with you," Luna mused. "He was a rather funny sort, wasn't he, at school? I mean, even before he, well, sort of lost it. It would seem, from what you're saying, that he's just as silly as I remember
( ... )
"Oh, yes, you'll find it. Or rather, I think those sorts of things find us, you know?" She smiled.
"It's no problem. Thats why I'm here. Just be careful with those heels, Su. As for payment, we realise that not many people have the money to pay us. We do take money, of course, but it's mainly whatever you can trade. And these herbs are wonderful. I've only read about them, as you're right; they're quite scarce here. Thank you." She took the package from Su.
"I'll send you an owl soon, Su, and we'll go out to lunch. I daresay I could use a reason to leave this place some times. I like working here, but it's nice tot take breaks." Luna smiled wryly.

"I'll be careful in the future," Su promised. "And I'm glad the herbs are useful."
Su smiled. "Wonderful! I'll look forward to your owl. And yes, breaks are good."
"Thank you, Luna. I'll see you soon!" Su smiled at the kind lady at the reception desk before walking outside and apparating home.
