Romilda felt somewhat better after her heartfelt talk with Colin the evening before. Sleep had been quick to come after the realisation that she was no longer alone. Colin's statement that she was a part of his family, and that together with Cormac and Liam, the four of them were a family helped her to sleep better. She still didn't know what she had really done to deserve their love, but she woke with a determination to do the right thing.

Things weren't going to get better overnight, she realised that now, but perhaps if she got herself work well away from the pub. Well away from the public eye, and faces constantly looking at her, she might be able to build that future. Only a few days earlier, she had actually pondered the idea of working with potions. It was the one thing (well, besides sex) that she knew she was good at.

Well, nothing ventured, nothing gained, right? she thought to herself.

She mustered up that very tiny sliver of Gryffindor bravery that she often forgot about, and wrote a letter to the twins.

Dear Fred and George,

I am just writing to find out if you are still in need of a potions brewer for your apothecary. If you are, then I would like to come and talk to you about the position.

I had a fight - I felt for my safety - I am an idiot and should really go and apologise more Recent events have forced me to quit my position at the Five Alarm, and a couple of people suggested that the job in your store is more suited to my skills. I enjoy brewing potions, and have made quite a few complex ones, including Amortentia, beautifying potions, and most recently a memory potion that is designed to help dyslexia. Professor Jones and Headmistress McGonagall can vouch for my skills, as I am desperately trying to finish my Potions OWL. That pesky war got in the way of my getting that qualification. I hope you don't hold that missing piece of parchment against me?

Anyway, if you still have an opening, and you are still interested, I am bored shitless have plenty of time to come and talk to you further.

Cheers,
Romilda Vane

Colin had been kind enough to lend her his gorgeous little owl, and she quickly folded the letter up and handed it to the bird, telling it where it could find the Weasley twins. As she watched it fly out the window and catch the breeze with ease, she suddenly felt her own sense of freedom, and smiled.

Perhaps this was a move in the right direction.
