He was a little startled by Hagrid's appearance, but most certainly pleased. Ollivander's face lit up when he looked up and saw his old friend. "Hagrid! How good of you to stop by!" he said, clapping his hands together.
The man barely fit inside the shop, and he most certainly wouldn't have fit if Ollivander had offered him a chair. "So, you've brought the thestral spines? Oh, that is good of you. I must say that I've been running low on cores lately, and I figured after two hundred and eighty four years, it's about time I started working with another type of core, what?"
He took the package from Hagrid and placed it lovingly on the counter.
"Oh, I was just telling Wilhelmina. I had a visit from Fawkes last month. He seems to be doing well. I'm not sure if he has a new familiar or not, but he seemed happy enough, and offered me another feather. Now what do you think of that?"
Of course, Ollivander knew that anything he told Hagrid would likely be shared with half of the town in virtually no time at all, but that wasn't always such a bad thing, was it?

"Thank y' Mr. Ollivander," Hagrid replied, carefully sitting in the offered chair.
This place was even smaller than his last shop. Hagrid thought, and its already packed.
"Yes Sir I have." He said opening his pack and taking out a bundle of onyx-colored spines the size of a fire-log.
"Oh yeah," He said, Placing these on the shop's counter and reaching back into his bag.
"Yeh said yeh might be able t'use gryffindor flight feathers, so I brought some'o those as well he said, taking out a large featherduster-sized handfull and placing it next to the thestral quills. "Buckbeak shed's 'em every once and a while, and it always seemed like such a shame to toss 'em.
"I also picked up a few other things..." he continued, grabbing a large skien of thick white thread and placing by the other items.
"Some acromantula silk, I ran across, wonderfully useful stuff, that stuff is - strong as anything. And... Ah yes, 'ere it is!" He finished, taking a small box gingerly out of the bottom of his sack and placing it carefully on the table.
"A pair of acromantula fangs." He explained.
"Don' know what there good fer, but I figured you might. And anyway, its like I told'em, If y'can't play nicely with'em, you can't keep'em."

"Hello, Hagrid," Wilhelmina smiled when he came crashing into the shop.
The man was huge and bumbling, but somewhat endearing. Pomona had always spoken highly of him, and Wilhelmina had found that she liked him as a person, even if she did disapprove of his exposing young, untrained witches and wizards to beasts that could be unpredictable and dangerous.
Still, she thought she understood his affinity with them - he always looked so out of place in human society that she could see why he'd be more comfortable around beasts that he was small in comparison to - so she could almost forgive him his irresponsibility.
She rose and joined them in the front of the shop, watching with interest as Hagrid unloaded the various bits of magical creatures he had collected.
"It seems everyone will be giving you gifts today, Ollivander." She reached into her coat. "I brought something for you as well."
The bundle she removed was wrapped in an old and worn piece of silk. She unwrapped it to reveal several shimmering unicorn tail-hairs. "The white are from the European breed - the ones we rescued from the Hogwarts forest. The blue are from the native ponies, and the purple is a blending - from the offspring of one of the Hogwarts stallions with an Arabian mare I was given as a gift many years ago after I birthed her. Her mother never gave me a hair, but this one is a lot more willing."
It wasn't very often that Ollivander felt overwhelmed by the generousity of the human race. Most of the time, he considered them to be something of a threat to the magical creatures of the world and was cautious about them at best. These two people, however, had, in one day, redeemed a considerable portion of the race.
"Why, thank you both so very very much," he said quietly, setting the gifts down in a small box behind the counter. He could tell that the unicorn hairs didn't like being next to the acromantula relics as soon as he set them down, so he carefully arranged the spines between them. These would keep him busy for quite a while, testing out new magical creature's gifts with different woods, and perhaps even using some of the silk to bind a few of his more unruly wands. Already, his mind was racing with ideas for new wands and combinations.
The silk would likely go well with the dragon heartstring wands, and possibly some of the phoenix feathers he had. The spines could be used in the same wood bases as the unicorn hairs, but with possibly quite different results. Of course, it would likely only work for those who had known death. But then again, most adult Wizards in this day and age would have no problem with that. But the younger generation...
the younger generation might make use of the hybrid hairs, and the new unicorn hairs. Oh, the ones from abroad would be interesting in some of the woods from the south of Spain. Those new Orangewoods might be a good start for these...
He lost himself in thought for a few moments, and then, when he realized he had become distracted, he snapped himself back into the reality at hand. "Oh, where are my manners, Hagrid, would you like some tea or shortbread? How is your wand doing, by the way? I know you're not technically supposed to be using magic, but if you are in need of one, I would be more than willing to oblige."
