They told her the worst was over. That it would be easier from here.

So why was she still drenched in sweat? Why was she still shaking? Why was she still having nightmares (when she slept at all)? Why did she still craving the potions they wouldn't let her have?

She didn't have much recollection of the last few days, just that she'd been in more pain than she could ever remember being and that there had been people there - Gilderoy she was quite sure, and Julian of course. She thought Romilda had been there too, but she couldn't remember. She knew there had been at least one other woman, speaking to whomever had been there at the time and telling her it would get better. She wasn't sure she believed that.

There had been an Erkling there - laughing - trying to snatch away Ella…Ella! Where was Ella? The Erkling was gone, but did that mean Ella was safe?

Millicent sat up and looked around - suddenly unsure of herself. Had the Erkling really been there? Or had she imagined it? She couldn't have, could she? It's been so real. It had been right there, over by the wall - laughing.

She shuddered as she slumped back on the pillows of the bed - not sure what was real and what was not. How long had it been since she saw Ella? How many days, weeks, had past since they took her away? How long since they took her potions away? She still craved them - even if they did say she shouldn't. They were wrong.

A sound from outside made her sit focus on the door. What if the Erkling was back? What if it hadn't got Ella the first time and was trying again? But that was not making sense - Erklings didn't live in England. But it had been there, it had. She fought it even. Hadn't she?

It was all so confusing, but the noise outside the door was there. Someone was coming up the stairs.
