Date: 10 January 2005 Characters: Wayne, Charlie, Oliver Location: River Inn Status: Private Summary: Plans for the new inn are made. Completion: Incomplete
"You weren't kidding, Wayne," said Charlie, taking it all in. "It's beautiful. And the grounds are amazing. Plenty of room to do it right, no cookie cutter buildings right on top of each other. You could work with the natural landscape so as not to disturb it, and gain privacy for guests at the same time."
He looked sideways at Wayne and immediately hoped he hadn't overstepped his bounds. He was genuinely excited, though.
"Sorry," he said, feeling a bit sheepish. "I s'pose that's how I see it. But I am anxious to see the plans...what you have in mind."
Oliver blinked as he took in the scenery. He couldn't stop the smile from spreading on his face. "Bloody brilliant, mate." He bounced a bit on the balls of his feet.
He listened as Charlie spoke, nodding in agreement. "There's so much we could do with it. I really like what you can see here."
"Privacy is good," Wayne agreed. "So is working with the natural setting. I don't want it to look tacky and awful. We want it to look welcoming in the brochure and to lure people to town."
"The main house is actually in decent shape from what I can tell. It looks like the formew occupants had time to move most of their stuff, which means we can start from scratch for decorating. That's good, I think, because we have less to get rid of."
"You want to go inside and check it out now?" He led them around the back to the door by the kitchen. After he charmed it open, he ushered them inside.
"Don't need to ask me twice," Charlie said, relieved that Wayne and Oliver were having as much trouble containing their enthusiasm as he was. He couldn't wait to get inside the beautiful structure and check it out.
He stood to the side and made a grand gesture, as if to say after you.
