Upon returning to Stoatshead, Cedric hadn't been able to sleep until two in the morning, then had slept for almost 12 hours straight, waking a little before two in the afternoon. He was suffering serious jetlag, not to mention simple exhaustion from all the apparating and portkeying with extra luggage. Fortunately, he'd made this trip a few times already, enough to have sense and take off from work the days after his return. He wouldn't return to the museum till Monday, although he'd called in to get his messages and was planning to do some work from home tomorrow. Today, Thursday, however, he planned to do nothing at all except unpack, collect his books, and see friends -- one friend in particular who he'd been unable to get out of his head for the entire trip.

He owled Hermione when he woke, even before he'd showered and shaved, and had an answer waiting by the time he got out to towel off his hair. She was home, and not busy today (or not with any meetings) and yes, he could come to collect his books. Shaving and dressing, he put on a vest under a flannel shirt as it wasn't terribly cold, even if the sun played tag with clouds that dropped a light shower now and then. It was nice to be back home where he didn't have to wear a jacket every day of winter. (Even in his own head, he stressed the word 'home' to himself.)

Picking up the presents he'd found for Hermione, Ron and Harry, he apparated to the road outside the Trio's house, then made his way up the drive to the door, knocking politely.
