Romilda smiled when she read Terry's invitation. She had managed to get off the shift at the Five Alarm on New Year's Eve, finishing up just before the big party they were having, and this party seemed to be more her style. Although she had no plans to drink this time. Her face still flushed as she remembered how much she embarrassed herself in front of Roger.
"Liam, how would you like to go to a party?" she asked her son, who was busy stalking around searching for 'stormtwoopers' behind the couch and in the cupboards.
"Will I get more Kwissmuss presents?" he asked excitedly, stopping in his tracks. "S'not not a tea party, is it?"
Romilda laughed and shook her head. "No, no presents, and no, it's not a tea party. Christmas is over, but you can stay up very late then get to sleep over at Ben and Bob's house instead. What do you think?"
His broad grin widened, if that were at all possible. "Can we go now? I wanna show Ben how to catch SPACE PIRATES! We can ride Bob across the desert."
Romilda just smiled and shook her head. "No, not today. It's a party on Sunday night."
"Cool! I'm gonna dress up as Luke Piewalker and Ben and I can rescue Violet and Ella!" He was racing into his room, already making plans for the big party. Romilda could not help but smile at his enthusiasm.
Pulling a page from the notepad, she quickly penned a note to Terry.
Terry,
Of course Liam and I will be there. He's pretty excited already, and I must admit I'm glad I didn't take that shift at the pub on New Year's Eve.
Thank you for the invitation, and I'll bring some food for the kids to eat as well. I can keep a bit of an eye on them too, if you plan on enjoying yourself a little (I may have had one cider too many at the Christmas party - I'm not making that mistake again in a hurry).
Excellent! Food would be welcomed, as will the extra eye or two. And Ben would like you to tell Liam that there will be a pirate treasure hunt planned. (He's doing this himself, so the "treasure" is likely to be chocolate)

I'll bring some child-friendly refreshments too!
Cheers!
Romilda and Liam.
