Date: December 17, 2004 Character(s): Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, whomever else stops by Location: Five Alarm Status: Public Summary: Harry needs a pint... or four Completion: Incomplete
"I was wondering when you'd say something." Hermione put down her quill and looked up, smiling at Harry. "It's coming along all right. There's still so much to do, of course, but eventually the list will have to show some sort of progress, right?"
She leaned back in her chair and nodded. "A break would probably be wise," she agreed. "What did you have in mind?"
Harry wanted to go to a pub? For no reason other than going for a drink? Hermione smiled. "Of course I would," she told him. "And, no, you can't. The world's waiting for you, after all."
She stood up and kissed his cheek. "Let me get my coat and then we can go. Perhaps the Five Alarm? It's busier than the others, usually, but it might be easier to blend in there."
"I... all right." He said, holding on tightly to the arms of the chair. "I was going to bring your coat, but it felt too presumptuous," he said, smiling at her. "Guess I should have?"
They walked over to their house, and he waited for Hermione to get her coat. It hadn't yet snowed, but it was quite cold these days. With any luck they'd have snow for Christmas. "Ready?"
"Oh, big word there, Potter," she teased, ruffling his hair before she left the house. "Though, really, when have I ever told you no?"
They reached the house, and she ran in to get her coat. When she rejoined him, she smiled. "Ready," she confirmed. "Did you want to walk to the pub or just Apparate? I've been there a few times, so I can take us. If you'd rather walk, that's fine."
For a moment, Hermione had felt as if she'd somehow wandered into a time warp. Malfoy and Harry snarking at each other. All they need was Ron to complete the flashback to fifth year. She bit her tongue and stayed out of it, knowing she'd have nothing constructive to offer beyond 'You're 24. Grow up?', which she doubted either wanted to hear.
It was a relief when Malfoy said his good-byes and walked away, mostly because she didn't know if Harry might have done something drastic or foolish. She took a sip of her juice before she smiled wryly at Harry. "Nothing like seeing familiar faces to make one's day better, huh?"

After they'd apparated to just outside of the Five Alarm, Harry started to have doubts. What if....
No, stop that.
He could do this.
"I guess we should go in, then?"
