Cormac hadn’t slept much the night before, thoughts of Uncle Tiberius’ letter running around unchecked in his head keeping him from the oblivion of sleep he craved.

His head pounding from lack of sleep, and eyes burning from his emotional meltdown the night before, he'd gone to work, performed his rounds on automatic, and avoided everybody.

Now, it was night again, he was trying to read another chapter in the Auror manual, but couldn't concentrate, memories of his childhood unable to be ignored.

Frustrated, he pushed the book aside and Summonded parchment and a quill. He was going to tell his uncle exactly what he thought.

Uncle,

We both know you haven’t wanted anything to do with me for twelve years, so kindly take your “concern” and shove it up your arse. I won’t see you, and most definitely won’t pass your “regards” along to Robards. You may think you have power over me, but I’m 25 years old now, and more than capable of taking care of myself. You can’t just disappear from my life for over a decade, and expect me to welcome you with open arms. Especially considering why you left so suddenly. How do you expect your friends and colleagues would look at you if there was even the suggestion of your behavior regarding young boys? They might not believe me completely, but you can’t come back from things like that. So, just stay away from me, and we won’t have any problems.

~Cormac McLaggen

Cormac reread the letter, and cast the spell checking charm Robards had taught him, rolled it up and sealed it.

Then he drew his wand, pointed it at the letter, and said, “Incendio.”
