"It may seem I have taken the easy path, but I would disagree." Lee let the matter drop he wasn't here to argue with his old head of house.

"Well during the last couple years of the war ever since father was killed when the Wizarding British Library was destroyed, I fought against Death Eaters, whenever I found them. But that is what I did then, now what I want to do now."

He looked intently at Professor McGonagall. "In college I studied history. Majored in the history of writing actually, with a minor in general history." He smiled, "Mother always told me it was a wonderful thing to be a historian." Then he looked a little bittersweet, "she's gone now."

"Anyway, I am willing to do just about anything Professor. I think that that is one of my biggest strenghts. I worked my way through college summer construction work and by waiting tables in the winter. I have a passion for books that I didn't properly get until college." He looked a little sheepishly at Minerva, knowing she knew he had joked around with the twins at times when he should have been studying.

"I just want to work, I was hoping you had heard of something."

Minerva smiled. She sometimes couldn't help herself - she had to grill her former students until they gave her full and complete answers. Now that she knew a little more about what Lee had been up to, she had a couple of ideas where she could best direct him.

"Well, it seems that you're not the only one who has an interest in history." She adjusted her glasses as she summoned a letter from her desk. "It would seem that Cedric Diggory wants to help search for artefacts and open a new wizarding museum. You might be able to assist him in that venture. Or perhaps you could help dear old Professor Grubbly-Plank to build an aviary if you feel like getting back in to construction work."

"Or there's always Hermione Granger. She's decided she wants to gather together what remains of the wizarding libraries to start reprinting our heritage. I've been asked to help write a few books on Transfiguration," she said with a proud smile. "I'm sure that young Mr Weasley and Mr Potter are going to help her with the printing process, but she might be in need of a few more hands. I do think it is going to be a project that might just snowball out of all proportion."

Minerva watched his reactions over the top of her glasses. He seemed mildly interested when she mentioned Cedric, and not at all keen to help Willa. But at the mention of Hermione's project, she could see his eyes light up.

"Cedric Diggory? I had heard he was alive, but he lives around here?" Diggory and Lee had been in the same year. Whenever time and twins permitted they would meet up in the library for studying. Cedric's death, or supposed death, he mused, had been the first time Lee had known death, not just the random oh so and so got killed or died, but, he was my friend and I'm never going to see him again kind of death. "It would be nice to look him up."

He looked with interest at Professor McGonagall as she spoke of Hermione Granger. "The wizarding libraries? Has she got many? What kind of help does she need? She's got a press?" Lee shut up. He was blathering again.

"Sorry, again Professor. If you think that Ms. Granger could use my services, I should go and offer them."

"Oh yes, this area is where Mr Diggory grew up," she nodded in reply. "He might like a visit from you."

She just laughed at Lee's rapid fire questions. "I think you'll have to ask her all those questions, Lee. She is a resourceful young witch, and I think that she might just be able to use someone with your keen interest in the subject, who isn't afraid of a little physical work to go along with it. Send her an owl, let her know you are in town."

Nodding, Lee said, "I should visit him."

When she laughed he smiled at her. "I do believe I shall." He sat back, his problem solved as much as they could be for the moment. Lifting his cup, he took another sip.

He sat chatting with McGonagall for a little while, then excused himself. She still had school work to go over an he had an owl to write. He wondered briefly who would have an owl. Well the twins were downstairs from him, they had one or would know who did. After saying goodbye, Lee left, as soon as the door shut behind him he grinned. He knew coming here had been a good idea.
