Excitement was the culprit this morning. Gilderoy found himself awake and far too excited to sleep at the early hour of 5:30 am. He had tried to roll over and get a few more minutes of rest, but it was no good. His mind was already racing with all of the things he had to finish before his prospective employees arrived, the gifts he had for Julian, clothes he had prepared for Seti, Susan and Rita, and the prospects of becoming a hero, yet again.
There was about three meters of yarn leftover from the scarf, and for the past day or so, Myffles had been using it as potential prey in her “hunt and stalk” games. Today, however, it had a much grander purpose. He collected his sample of their up and coming line of “the finest yarns in the land,” and rolled it into a loose hank.
After dressing in his favourite Burgundy and Aubergine suit (with the velvet flocked vest and golden silk cord trim), and charcoal grey wool fleece cloak (the one with the double pockets on the interior taffeta moire lining), and giving Myffles her food and water, he set out to walk along the dark streets up to the Gildery Shoppe.
November had gotten quite cold, and there was a layer of frost on the ground when he went outside. his feet crunched on the grass as he walked through the brisk air. His normal path took him over to Alpha, and then north to his shop. For a moment, he thought he might have seen that angry bald man who was going to get him some beets, but the man darted around a corner and out of sight (not the actions of a close friend), so Gilderoy deduced that it was not the same man.
Upon arrival at his store, he stood there, staring at the storefront for a few moments, as per usual, and then headed on inside. He took extra care this morning to make sure the place was clean, and the twinkle charms were all set and ready to go in the ivy and pine swag he had hung in the front window.
First things first, however. Gilderoy made his way downstairs to the cellar to survey the work he had done over the past few days. In addition to getting all of the vests and trousers ready for the pay packets, he had finished the jacket and a skirt for Seti, trousers, shirt and waistcoat for Julian, and a simple dress for Rita.
The pieces of fabric he had cut out for Susan’s dress lay on one of the long cutting tables, ready to be sewn. Settling in with his enchanted needle, he set it to begin sewing the dress together. Meanwhile, Gilderoy put on his apron, brought out his tape measure and chalk, and started marking up Julian’s waistcoat with embroidery guides. Fern stitches with oyster stitches would run on the ends along the hems and pockets with leaves of padded satin stitch, and Chinese braids along the buttonholes.
Julian deserved the finer things, and Gilderoy was out to give him what he deserved. Settling in with a chenille needle and a thinner strand of yarn he spun from a few tufts of the angora, Gilderoy began embellishing the waistcoat while he waited for his partner and their prospective employees to arrive.
((*OOC NOTE: He is at the shop SEVERAL hours early. So, if someone comes by, he will be nearly finished with this particular section of embroidery upon their arrival.))
