Ron was tired of hanging around the house, and he had a few hours to burn before the party at the Five Alarm. He decided to take a walk. Turning down Weasley Way, he ended up on familiar territory - the grounds of The Burrow. He came to a fork in the path and chose the left fork, which led away from the tents where his mother and Ginny were now living. Meandering down the path a bit more, he saw the old cider house. He thought he remembered that this was where Charlie was living now. He Apparated to the building and knocked on the door.

"Charlie, are you home?"

"Hey, Ron! Welcome to my humble abode," Charlie said sarcastically, even though in truth he was quite proud of how well the pace presented itself.

He embraced his brother warmly. It wasn't the first time he found himself thankful that his family wasn't afraid to show affection.

"What brings you over this way? Come on in and I'll show you around."

Ron looked around the house as Charlie hugged him. It was still basically just one big room, but Charlie had obviously cleaned it up a lot so he could start turning it into a real home.

"Not so humble," said Ron, drawing back from his brother's hug. "I can tell you're working hard here. Lots of room for one person, too. I was just taking a walk, wanting to get out a bit more. Somehow my feet brought me back here. Funny, that." He smiled at Charlie. "Sure, I'd love to see the place."

Charlie relished the opportunity to show off what he'd made of the old place. He showed Ron the loft, explained how he'd gone about patching the roof, how it had been complicated to do without compromising the integrity of the structure. He told his brother his plans for partitioning the large space, for planting a garden.

"It's got a long way to go, but at least it's habitable. It's good to be out of Gin's hair. She was great about letting me stay with her since I've been back, but I hated to impose."

Truth told, he and Ginny hadn't seen each other all that much, what with her busy work schedule and Charlie spending most of his time here working.

"Anyway," Charlie finished, "now that I've got this far, I'm anxious to get out a bit. See who's back in town."
