Date: 21 November 2004
Character(s): Penelope Clearwater, Percy Weasley
Location: River Place, wherever Percy is at that particular moment.
Status: Private.
Summary: Penelope needs to speak with Percy.
Compeltion: Complete.

Penelope had found herself rather distracted in the past few weeks. Between the war ending and seeing Oliver again, thoughts of work had not been at the forefront of her thoughts. The Ministry meeting on Saturday had completely slipped her mind and she felt unbelievably guilty for missing it. Deciding that sending a letter of apology would ease her guilt somewhat, Penelope Summoned a quill and a piece of parchment before she realized who the letter would have to be addressed to: Percy Weasley.

"Oh, dear," she muttered. She pinched the bridge of her nose and tried to think of a suitable excuse that would appease him. They had not spoken in years but she was sure that an unexplained absence would not go over well, especially if she was interested in keeping her job with the Ministry.

She cast a Transcription Charm so that her quill would record her letter. It was then that she came to her first of many dillemas: how to start the letter. Starting with 'Percy would be too informal. 'Mr. Weasley' would not do either she knew as he had unresolved issues with his family and might not appreciate the use of his last name. After much debate, Penelope decided to just use 'Percy'. It wasn't as if they were strangers, after all. Gathering her courage, Penelope started:

Dear Percy,

I would like to offer my sincerest apologies for my absence at the Ministry meeting on Saturday. Although I do consider myself still an employee of the Ministry of Magic, I've found myself rather distracted since the end of the war. I've since gathered my wits and will not miss any further meetings. Perhaps it would be best if we could arrange a meeting sometime this week to iron out my position within the new Ministry? I'm open to any time just so long as I'm given prior notice.

I look forward to meeting with you again.

Sincerely,

Penelope Clearwater.

Satisfied with the letter, Penelope tried out the charm that Terry Boot had described in his invitation to the Ravenclaw gathering. When she felt the letter leave her hands, she assumed it had worked. Now it was simply a matter of waiting.
