now that I'm feeling well enough for some creativity...

There's nothing for illness like making someone else suffer, so the crossover's being set aside momentarily for some outsideinn-continuity fic.

The headache had finally subsided enough that Regulus could concentrate on reading, but he still felt rather like something was trying to drain his brain out his nose. He saw no reason to inflict himself upon everyone downstairs in such a state, especially not with automatic food service, so he was planning to stay in bed unless he absolutely had to get up.

Someone knocked at the door. "What?" he said, and then winced at the sound of his voice.

Willow stuck her head in the room. "Hi. You... kinda sound like crap."

"Really? I hadn't noticed."

"Well, you never know. You've been up here by yourself, right? And you don't strike me as the type to talk to yourself. Unless you were reading out loud or something."

"No. Why'd you come up here?"

"I, um. Thought you could use some soup." She handed over a cream-colored cylinder with a red top that, on further inspection, turned out to be a lid. "It might help your throat feel better. And you can just drink it out of that if you want."

"...Interesting. Aren't you worried you'll catch whatever I've got?"

Willow shrugged. "If you're feeling like crap, you're probably not contagious anymore. Besides, I wanted to help. If I could, you know."

Having someone care that he was sick was a relatively new experience to Regulus, and if the look on Willow's face was any indication, she was equally unused to having someone to be concerned about.

"...Thanks."

"No problem. Whatcha reading?"

"Something Peter recommended. There's a lot of politics in it."

"You can make sense of it with a stuffy head?"

"Some of it I can't make sense of at all. I'll be asking him questions about those bits, though. Either way, it sounded more appealing than rereading anything else I had, and I'm too out of sorts to think up anything else right now."

"I know the feeling." After a few moments, she added, "Well... I should probably let you rest your voice and stuff. Hope you feel better soon."

"I'm certainly going to try."
